Are there any slow pistol powders or maybe fast rifle powders that would work good in the 44mag for rifles only? I have used a lot of #9 and H-110 but was just wondering about maybe w-748 or some other rifle powder. :D

The slowest pistol powder I've used was IMR4227. A bit slower than 110/296, just a bit. This would give you loads good for both long and short gun. I have no experience with faster rifle powders. steve b

IMR has loading data for IMR4198, but it's the slowest powder I've found data for. You might need to call Hodgdon to get the latest data, since it's not showing on like. You can also find data for AA1680.

Back in the day, I would have worked up some loads using 2400, and some with IMR4227, while using whichever bullet I was intending to launch. Then I'd stick with whichever powder produced the best accuracy.

These days though, I'd probably just buy a can of 2400 and call it good.
It's hard to go wrong by picking a widely-proven commodity.
