Picked up a P90 today to go with my P89. This is the DC model. These are clunky, outdated, under appreciated guns; but they are also pretty much trouble free. I’ve yet to encounter one that gave problems. Got both my P-series for under $400 and they are a lot more gun than much that’s being marketed today.

Clunky? Yeah, but smooth-as-silk to shoot. Don't have one right now, but just missed snagging one a couple of weeks ago. They're a great value when you find a nice one.

I have a P97DC that I bought about 20 or so years ago. I've never had a single problem with it, and its more accurate that I am. I hardly shoot it any more but will not sell it. The few hundred bucks that I might get for it is not enough for me to part with it. And if the SHTF, I still have several hundred 45acp rounds in my cabinet.

Just the opposite for me. I bought my P90 new. I found a good deal on a P89 last year to have the "same" pistol to shoot for cheaper.
CW with a kydex holster, kydex double mag pouch and several magazines.
All but one of the mags was 10rd so got several Ruger 15rd mags for it when Dack was having a sale with free shipping.
Also got some 10/22 and LCP Max mags at the same time.

YES!!

Keep the P-guns alive!!

P89DC was my first. Lost count how many I've had and sold. KP94DCREM unit is my favorite. The REM finish is sooo purdy. To me.

That P90 will shoot great groups. Rugers most accurate P series in my experience.

Let me know if you decide to sell it. You’d be over $300 if it has the box, mags, etc.

I haven't shot a P90 since ...... today !!!! Definitely one of my favorites since I bought it 24 years ago.

Also got me P97, also a favorite for the past 23 years.

I have found one located locally (Idaho) advertised for 350.00.

It's a 91DC in 40 S&W.

I am currently without a 40 and have never owned one of these.....
91 is rare? Why so?

I think when I get back in town I'll pick it up, still listed.

Why are they rare?

I've shot a "P" series, friends gun, once; I thought it was big and boxy but smooth and great quality.

I'm thinking "house gun." The 40 S&W is a fantastic round for such purposes and I don't care how big or heavy a house gun is.

Also, can someone please tell me how to follow this thread? I'm not seeing it clearly.

Well of course it sat there for weeks until I noticed it and now if just sold the day before I could get back to town to pick it up. Of course...

Looks great! Would like to shoot mine more often but .45 is so expensive
My P90 is one of my favorite 45's. I shoot .45 almost as much as .22LR. Why? Because it's cheaper than .22LR.

I have to "buy" .22's. When they announced the deadly word "covid", I put in a big order for primers and powder. A box of 50 cost me about 2 and a half bucks. Of course you gotta cast boolits too.

If you shoot, you need to reload too.

Absolutely dependable pistol. I owned this on for about 10 years. I believe it would have fired M&M Peanuts if they could be in the magazine. Shot everything I loaded. Built like a tank and somewhat loose. Got a good deal on it...

91 is rare? Why so? ...Why are they rare?

A fairly small number were produced, for P-series guns - if my memory is correct, they only made the P91 for about three years, before replacing it with the P944. The serial number range suggests about 25,000 per year, so maybe 75,000 total produced. I think the only P-series gun that was produced in smaller numbers was the P93, with about 25,000 total (again IIRC).

The P91 was the last of the "full size" P-series designs, and is quite similar to the earlier P89 & P90. I found that a P89 top half would fit my P91 frame (with a tiny bit of file work on the bottom of the slide, to clear the ejector), so I can also shoot 9mm, using 9mm mags. And I discovered that a P90 top half will fit if you want to shoot .45 reloads: quite a bit more fitting involved for the barrel to clear the frame, and cartridge length has to be short enough to fit a 40 cal magazine (but there is published data available at that length). In some ways, the P91 is the ultimate "Ruger convertible"!

As always FWIW, IMHO, YMMV, "don't try this at home kids", etc., etc.
:)

The wife owns a KP90. It is the most accurate .45 ACP that we own, and we own quite a few. Rumor is that Bar-Sto made some of the barrels, and I believe it. It is a bit clunky, but the slide is easier to rack than the 1911’s. This gets more important the older you get.
It has never malfunctioned.
I think the trigger is awful, but she says it’s OK.
