I see both sides of the question however I have a problem. I wear suspenders so wearing a shirt that covers my holster would also require covering my suspenders. Now that isn't a major concern UNTIL one has to use the 'throne room'. At that point one must practically undress.

IMHO, open carry may be 'unwise' in some locations. One big difference is how many folks engage in OC. The more, the better. If one person open carries, it results in unwanted attention. If one THOUSAND open carry, it's totally different.
MO has always been OC in most places and is now 'Constitutional concealed carry'. Neither of these has caused the highly touted 'gunfights in the streets'.
I often OC especially in summer. One would surprised just how few people pay enough attention to notice a discretely holstered handgun. I do notice and the number of citizens(both male and female) with a holster on their belt would surprise some folks.

Open Carry bad?... Pretend your the bad guy - you want to rob a store - you walk in and see three people - you see one with a gun on his hip - you shoot him - then the other two pull out their concealed pistols and blow you away!
 
Living in ID, I can tell the guys/gals who normally open carry and those that either just started or want the attention. CCW, that's easy also.

I'm just an old geezer but I generally change from grubby farming/work clothes to 'town wear' before leaving home. That and the fact that I'm comfortable with carrying a gun and don't 'make a show' of carrying seems to give the general public the idea that I'm legitimate in carrying my handgun even if it's noticed. The person who's constantly adjusting or fidgetting with their carry is going to attract unwanted attention/suspicion.

I agree. The guy in a wife beater shirt with two Hi-Points in $10 Uncle Mike's holsters needs to stay home. I always carry around the house, I had to chase a bear from the chicken coop last week in broad daylight and put a round in the dirt behind and to the side to hurry him along. Anyway, when going to town I may or may not throw a Hawaiian shirt over my t shirt, depending on how well the particular t shirt conceals, but I don't get too concerned about concealment down here. A few people were interested in what I was carrying, more out of curiosity than concern. In Denver it was a different story. I would be the subject of a 'man with a gun' call daily. Mobuck nailed it when he mentioned being comfortable wearing a gun, not making a show of it, and not fooling with it, and probably most importantly, don't be actin the fool... That said, as cool as it would be to wear a SAA in a drop rig around town, I just don't.

Everyone has an opinion. May I ask on what you have based your opinion of Taurus?
I carry a Taurus G2C. It's not presented ANY problems, works 100% with any/all ammo I've tried, and is easier to shoot well than a similar sized GLOCK. The 'cap gun' trigger may put some folks off but at least it's repeatable and smooth. It does take a bit of getting used to since there's no 'trigger break' but this isn't a target pistol.
 
Very few folks open carry in this area. Near by Ann Arbor still thinks it's a commune. Firearms simply upset people around here. I prefer not to upset people. It's not an imposition to me to conceal my firearm. 99.9% probability I will never expose it or use it. I'm more comfortable with it concealed.

Stop, just STOP. Do you know why I'm suggesting that? Because what you're saying makes SENSE. You will never persuade an open carry advocate that there are ANY reasons why it's a dumbass idea, let alone so many solid, logical reasons against it. Don't waste your breath. Just see them in the wild, and know that bad guys will cap them right away (probably with their own gun, snatched from their genuine gun-show Cordura nylon holster sagging off their belt.), giving you time to engage from concealment and survive. Consider open carriers the cathodic rods of civilized society...

That’s exactly right, you live in a free state, you are free to do as you please. Tennessee is a similar state, in general fairly free. Free to consider people as dumbasses for engaging in dumbass practices. Let us raise a glass to living in freedom!
 
Not sure about all that... none of us are truly 'free' ... I think we would all agree there are rules we need to live by and it's just that some of them we don't like. My wife is always getting on me when I start to complain about government regulations and such....
She likes to point out how I expect my meat... beef.... to be safe and not make me sick. We like the clean water that comes out of our tap.... and I have to say the local fire department and ambulance service has been a God Send in the last 5 years.....

Freedom is a very interesting concept for sure. Regardless of how rudimentary a society is, there are and have been rules. In Michigan it is necessary to pass a CPL class and apply for a permit which is "shall issue". The class was crafted by the USCCA and I found it very helpful per interpreting legalese. Application fee is $100.00 for five years which is going to McDonalds once a year. I really don't have a problem with any of that.

There are government regulations which exist because the people want that regulation: safe water, safe food, clean air, or just society's laws in general.

And then there are regulations that exist because the government wants to stifle the will of the people, wants to preserve its control, or promote an agenda.

Such as pushing "green energy" by killing the use of our natural resources which is the cleanest and most efficient form of our industrial production, wealth, and prosperity. Government gives subsidies (your money) to a company like Ford that loses $130,000 on each EV it sold; if the concept were viable, it would be profitable on its own. Also government trying to prohibit natural gas use in new homes and adding extra tax to it in existing homes. The list is long.

Government allowing millions of illegals into the country, unvetted, flying them to cities everywhere, you get to pay for it in many ways.

From the late fall to early spring we get a serious influx of "snowbirds", many of them from back east When I go to the store I see these people who are unused to firearms literally recoil in horror at the sight of someone open carrying. Guess t must have hurt my local Walmarts business as it is now posted, Concealed firearms are OK but no open carry. We still get a few ne'redowells who open carry but the presence of a couple of sheriff's deputies who work the doors on their days off have just about put stop to it. Also, constitutional carry has helped in that regard as well.

We simply have different experiences. Some friends have shared mine. Recoil problems, I didn't like the trigger pull, my friend had a drop fire, jamming, etc... bits and pieces. Again, just my own experiences. They just started to add up and I just took a pass. Admittedly, I haven't touched one in 4-5 years, so there certainly could have been improvements made since then.
 
I'm thinking about open carrying while riding an E-bike and filming public buildings and/or private property while I'm on public property. All at the same time. :) It's something to do and I'm bored.
