NYPD BLUE vs BARNEY MILLER

These 2 great shows were both set in Manhattan 10 years between them. Both portray detective squads at fictional precincts but both in Manhattan.

It is interesting to think of one while watching the other.

New York City sure changed a lot in those 10 years. Lol.

I know one is a drama the other a sitcom. They were both great in their own ways

I always like Barney Miller but they were a pretty wimpy bunch ....

As for NYPD blue it actually got funny when they kept Jimmy Smit in a hospital bed dyeing for pretty much an entire season.....

Lol. Jimmy Smits died a lot quicker in Miami Vice.

I thought it was great when Ricky Schroeder joined the NYPD BLUE cast. I was surprised how good he was. Hadn't seen him since Silver Spoons.

Loved the show back then. I think they're all gone now( Barney and Wojo still kicking) just checked.
Never got into NYPD Blue. I'll check it out if I come across it on the tube.

Hill Street Blues was great. As a kid I thought Barney Miller was boring but later on watching the reruns I appreciated it's humor more. Still watch the reruns when I see them (Either MeTV or Antenna TV not sure what is on now).

Crime Story is another of the fine old police shows, but did not last for long. Good one set in the early '60s:

Peter Gunn can not be forgotten. Just ask Jack Deth in Trancers.
I vaguely remember Frank Lovejoy in a series where the theme song was "Make it one for my baby and one more for the road".
Robert Loggia played in an interesting drama called 'T.H.E. Cat".

I really liked NYPD Blue, especially Dennis Franz as Sipowitz, probably one of my all time favorites. I believe he’s moved to Idaho because he’s a big fisherman.
