Ranch vs ketchup

Blue cheese is best on fries but ranch will work in a pinch. Wendy’s fries and ranch are good. But Blue Cheese is best.
Blue cheese is so much better than Ranch. Such as Creamy Blue Cheese .

I do have to say, Ranch is pretty good on pizza though. Especially the crust.

I don't think I've ever mixed ketchup & ranch dressing. For me those are either or choices & I might like ranch on one thing, ketchup on another. I don't like most ketchup you get at the store. My wife gets Heinz Simply Ketchup I much prefer it to most of the super sweet stuff out there now.
I am a bit shocked at how many here really like blue cheese dressing. It always reminded me of curdled milk. I guess everyone has different taste.
When I first moved out from home I learned about ranch dressing on pizza. It seemed like my roommate & his buddies were always ordering Little Ceasar's pizza. That & we had a pizza delivery guy that would randomly show up with a pizza after he delivered one night & someone gave him a beer. Ranch was a way to make pizza taste different after you had been living on leftover pizza for too long (or cover up the taste if it was bad).

Like most folks, I take ranch dressing on my salad unless I'm having steak with it. Then it's bleu cheese. Don't know why that is, but it has always been that way. And I can take either ranch or bleu cheese as a dip for anything fried.

Ranch as a dip makes me nauseous, but the Ranch powder is good on pasta or rice.

Ketchup I go through spurts but it’s always an option in small amounts. Too much sugar for a diabetic.

I used to like ketchup and mayonnaise on my fries. No not French dressing. I liked the ketchup and mayonnaise separate.

On a salad? I like anything on a salad. I guess I like variety. Why eat the same thing the same way everytime?

I have been getting a kick out of the videos of foreigners enjoying our culture.

They love Ranch dressing, air conditioning, free refills and steaks. Lol.😂

I’m mostly proud of my countrymen for being good hosts.
There are some no added sugar ketchup's on the market now, just have to look for it. I like it better than the sweetened versions.

Salads, vinegar and oil, ususally balsamic vinegar and olive oil with some Italian or Greek herb mix sprinkled on also Tastier and much less expensive than bottled salad dressings.

I never eat the peel off anything, that would be gross.
I do eat the skin of a baked potato, because it hasn't been peeled.
Scrub that sucker clean. rub with some butter or olive oil then run some salt kosher is best, then bake at 400-425 degrees for about 90 minutes until skin is crisp. Delicious.

Having eaten pizza nearly every night and breakfasted on the remains whilst in college, I can say that you cannot live on pizza for "too long." Pizza is the ultimate food. Like a chameleon, all things to everyone (run, run away).

A good baked potato is a 2 course meal.

Turn the middle into heavenly mashed perfection, then the outside layer is the main attraction. Yummy 😋!

Man! I’m going to have to come to your house for dinner sometime.

A very long time ago in Bulgaria there was this guy in downtown Plovdiv. For about .75 US, he would serve up a baked potato for lunch like you described.

Split them open, mash up the inside with butter and salt and pepper, then add in feta cheese, or mozzarella, ham, green onions, etc.

They were cheap enough, I ate a lot of baked potatoes that year.

Interesting topic. I like a good baked potato oozing with lots of butter. My primary and heart docs scream bloody murder at me for this. Thay'll kill you they say. My answer back is, "How old am I?" There's a dozen or so things right now that could knock me off but so far I've survived. I figure at my age enjoy what I like the best I can.

Speaking of things I like, someone one mentioned balsamic vinegar. Anyone here ever tried putting a little on vanilla ice cream? It's one fine taste treat. When I heard about it, my thoughts were no way in hell but I was put in a position at a friend's place where the bet was $10 I would like it. He was right.it's kind of a special treat. No more chocolate or other toppings. If I don't have that vinegar on hand I eat the ice cream plain.

I remember hidden valley ranch coming out in the late 70s early 80s? Just came in the packet and you mixed it with sour cream. My Midwest Swedish grandma thought it was magic. We lived in Montana and visited her in Minnesota. It was all the rage that summer in Minnesota mostly on baked potatoes. It took a few years to spread to North Dakota and Montana. Now in all three states the bars and some restaurants have it for fries, wings whatever.

And don’t forget Mississippi Pot Roast. The Ranch seasoning packet is the key ingredient. Otherwise it’s just pot roast.

It’s a great recipe and worth trying if you’ve never had it.
