Blue Jeans

My tastes have certainly changed. For half my life I would wear nothing but jeans. Then the job provided pants, not even sure what you call them, but they are lightweight mechanics pants.

Today I prefer those uniform pants by far. I’ll wear jeans if I’m dressed up and know I won’t be doing anything. They are too hot, heavy, hold sweat, and if I’m honest don’t fit that well for moving around.

Is this an aging thing? Or is it choosing utility over fashion? I’ve recently had to drop a size in clothes, the brand new jeans just reinforced my thinking on jeans

FWIW, I haven't worn jeans in decades. I stopped wearing them when I got fat because I thought that I looked like a denim tent. My jean replacements are Dickies khakis.

I'm the opposite all this lightweight stuff bugs me. Jeans or Carharrts are my favorite. Quit wearing shorts when I was a little guy and need something durable enough for mechanics and carpentry.

Depends on what I'm doing. If we're gonna be doing real work, jeans always. But, when it comes to jeans it's only Wranglers for me. My daughter keeps gifting me Levi's and I hate Levi's. Thankfully I can exchange them.

If we are going fishing or shooting and it is a hot day, 511 Taclite cargo pants are nearly as cool as shorts but with some protection for the pegs. I do wear shorts a lot as well, especially on the boat.

I grew up in jeans and T-shirts... back when you could get a T-shirt in any color you wanted... as long as it's white.... I stopped wearing jeans about 20 years ago... I prefer looser fitting cargo pants. Jeans just don't have the range of motion I need... cargo's are much more comfortable, and lighter... they dry much faster when they get wet... more pockets..... and I can get new surplus pants for $15 a pair.... shirts (blouses) too...

Wrangler ATG (all terrain gear) from Tractor Supply. They have a little extra room in the spot where older gents appreciate it…also known as a gusset in the crotch.
When younger it was Levi blue jeans for casual wear.

I guess I've been blessed, still the same basic stature for the last 50 years, must be the good Irish blood. Anyway, my pants preference are black Wrangler Relaxed-fit 38x34..... I think Johnny Cash had something to do with it

But the other day I just found a pair of Duluth Trading Company jeans at the thrift store.

They are very comfortable. Right in the crotch they have an extra piece of material sewed in to allow for extra movements.

I’m highly impressed. Not super thick and warm either. Last week it was cool enough to wear long pants. But I think those day are over until late September.

Never liked how Levi's fit met. I used to wear Roebucks from Sears until Sears stopped carrying their own brand. Switched to Dickies until I got fat.

Watched an interesting video on Youtube about fashion Jeans vs working jeans. The moderator did not recommend Levi's as they don't have enough belt loops and there was also a problem with the pocket placement.

I wore one variety or another of this for 20 years:

Then slacks and a polo for several years (uniform), then blue jeans and a t-shirt; then 'business casual,' now I wear whatever I want - shorts and a t-shirt whenever possible.

I still wear jeans. These day I get the Wrangler 5 star jeans. I never could wear the cowboy cut wranglers as they always felt like they were trying to cut certain parts in half. I wore Levi's until they sent their manufacturing overseas. The last Levi's I saw did not impress me.

Several years ago, a co-worker told me he was getting Dickies twill pants from Wal-Mart & using them for work. He liked them because they were light & cool. I decided to try them. I went to the store & tried some on to make sure I got the right size. After finding a pair that fit, I went out & got another pair the same size & bought both. Until those pants wore out, I had one pair of pants that fit right & one pair that I spent all day pulling up.

FWIW I don't want cargo pockets or anything other than the two normal front pockets and two normal back pockets. I tried cargo pants once and I couldn't stand having that weight banging into my knee.

I don't have any pistols that use clips. I almost bought a Broomhandle Mauser that would have taken clips.

I’ve actually tried to buy as many different brands of jeans as possible to see which one fits the best.

I like LL Bean brand. I’ve got an Orvis brand of jeans, Dickies, they are nice. I’ve got a pair of the Naked and Famous Raw Denim jeans. That’s funny. They are made from Texas cotton, but made in Japan. Then sold from a Canadian company. I bought them here in Dallas.

Lee brand is horrible. Wrangler is nice. And Levi is nice, just not comfortable.
