I'm 57 and my brother is 61, he's always been half a bubble off of plumb but a good guy, has never had any interest in my guns(I got my first one at 19) and is a bit of a loner. Politically he's a liberal and he's had battles with the bottle and depression, out of the blue about three months ago he texted me that he bought a gun and I had VERY mixed emotions. He got a Glock 9mm on a whim without talking to me first and it was borderline surreal but he wanted to learn and be safe. I got him signed up and qualified at my gun range and he was nervous/terrible but he was having fun. After a couple of weeks his marksmanship improved and he decided he wanted a .45 so he got one, a couple of weeks after that he added a .40 S&W to his stable and over the next several weeks he bought a range bag, targets, tools, springs, adjustable sights etc to personalize his guns. This weekend was the Oaks/Philadelphia gun show(it's huge) and he and his neighbor wanted to go, his neighbor was a little apprehensive because he's black and Puerto Rican and he has preconceived notions of what he'd see at a gun show. On the ride there we all talked guns and got into a little bit of politics and because of guns they both are starting to have mixed feelings about Kamala. The show was great, both of them had the time of their lives with me as their tour guide and were a little surprised at how joyful, polite, and helpful everyone there was. They both bought a bunch of ammo and some t-shirts, and I found some of my favorite carry ammo at a decent price. In a million years I never thought that guns would be the thing that brought my brother and me closer together...it's awesome!
