Christmas 2019 at my house - family members were elated.
What foreigner owns it!
A few years back, we went on a mini bourbon trail tour to Maker's Mark and Jim Beam!
We did the tastings at both! I'm not a drinker of alcohol but tried to like the bourbon! At MM we tasted 5 different ones! They all tasted like what I'd perceive lacquer thinner to taste like! My wife drank my leftovers! We did get to taste the big vats of corm mash at MM and it did taste good!
At JB, they gave you a card that would allow you to despense 3 different types! I gave my card to some gals to enjoy!
I'll be sticking with my A&W Root Beer from here out! lol!!

As bourbons go, Makers Mark is one of the better ones. I'm more of a Scotch guy myself, and all the better ones of that are foreign made. Still drink it though.

Not a claim- it’s a fact. Mine is American made. It's a 1996 bottle. Way before the Beam merger, and certainly before the sellout to Japan.

It was drinkable... which is pretty amazing in that it's made in Illinois.

Y'all are wimps. This is what manly men drink. No pretense of notes of vanilla or hints of whatever. Just pure central nervous system depressant.
1792 - One of the best Kentucky Bourbon whiskeys I ever had. Several of my old friends have also said it is the best there is. On another note, if you like tequila, Butterfly Cannon Blue has the best flavor (IMHO). Very hard to find too.

I had a bottle of 1792 Small Batch.....$29.99 for a 750......meh, not bad about on par with Elijah Craig small batch to me. Much cheaper than Elijah Craig though.

Grain parties were the cool thing in the late 70's very early 80's in my neck of the woods. Several bottles poured in a cooler, add powder (Kool Aid, Country time....even Tang). Sometimes they threw in sliced fruit. Always several face down in the grass/mud/sand the next morning. Honestly I have no idea why nobody died at the ones I attended. They were normally in the middle of a field, with our trucks parked in a circle, bon fire going. The closest I saw to someone biting the dust at a grain party was at a college. Dude did a back flip out a second story dorm window into the snow....we formed sort of a gauntlet holding up our cups as the paramedics carried him on the stretcher through the snow to the parking lot. He survived w/out being paralyzed....but he lost his wrestling scholarship....when we asked him why he did it, he said he didn't remember it, or most of the party. That was 30 years before sales of grain was banned in Maryland.
