Two catholic priests were sitting in a bar, a cop walks in and says “I’m looking for a couple child molesters”. Both of the priests look at each other and nod. One turns to the cop and says, “we’ll do it!”
I’m from a catholic background and this is funny!
I wish I had gotten a picture of the sign in front of the one Catholic Church here but by the time I came back it was gone.... It said

Annual Cornhole Tournament...

I almost whizzed my pants laughing

I grew up in thr Catholic Church, went to Catholic school and later in life Christ showed me was true salvation was. There are few groups I have less respect for in the spiritual world. I know that will offend some on here but so be it. Ask the priest the history of Catholic indulgences or how a sinful man like him has the right to prescribe a few prayers for the forgiveness of others sins? All man man up ideas made to make man feel good about himself rather than hating his own sin.

I'm not Catholic, not Christian, but for the final 17 years of my working life I was in management with a large Catholic affiliated health care corporation. In the course of my work I had occasion to work with, and get to know many Catholic priests and a few Bishops as well. While some were not to my personal liking, some were among the finest men that I have ever known. They along with the good Sisters that were part of our health care ministry were truly the salt of the earth. Certainly not all, but some of these men and women religious were the most altruistic and dedicated people that I have ever met, who truly devoted their lives to the service of the people through their religious convictions.

I'm a little sorry my post took the turn that it did. I never meant to belittle anyone nor to stir up any contention. This man, the priest, was an engineer who worked with me for many years at an engineering/construction firm and we made a few trips together to survey several projects. I had not heard from him in near twenty years.

Lawyers say, "Objection. Assumes facts not in evidence."

Bob, enjoy your lunch. I am a jokester and everyone is fair game to me. I work for a Catholic hospital and they are the best people I have ever worked for. Anytime any of my family has been patients they are treated like gold. The same thing if a friend of mine was a patient. I hope you have a great time!

A little background here is in order: David and I worked together for many years. He was a structural engineer, and I was a mechanical designer. It was my job to design systems primarily in the grain elevator and processing industry. I laid out the conveyors and process equipment, and he designed the structures to support that equipment. Over the years we climbed bucket elevator towers, rode belt manlifts, walked bouncing catwalks 60' up in the air, and walked dark rat and snake infested tunnels. We spent nights in Hampton Inns and dilapitaded old roadside motels. He left the engineering field some years ago and went to seminary to become a priest. I had lost track of him until recently when a friend and former co-worker told me he had contacted this priest to conduct his funeral, as he is terminal and will die soon most likely.

So, we met for lunch today and renewed old acquaintences and talked of old times. We also discussed some of our differences in religious doctrine but never argued no got unpleasant. Just two old friends with a common background.

And he paid for lunch.

A story from long ago of one of out travels:

David (the priest) and I were in Vicksburg, Mississippi to look over a job there. I had the rental car in my name but had included him as another driver. As we arrived in town early in the evening, he suggested we go to one of the then new casinos for dinner. I told him I would not go to a casino, but he could take the car and go and I could get dinner within walking distance of our motel.

He told me that if it was against my principles to go to those establishments, he would honor my beliefs and refrain from going also. That's the kind of relationship we had.

Bob,, I'm sure many here had ZERO intent to disparage your OP. I know I did. in fact,, I made my post as a tribute to what I consider a true compliment to your faith.

Now that I've read the back story,, it's easy to understand why y'all had lunch. BBQ by chance?

Glad to know you were able to re-connect with an old friend AND enjoy a lunch. And it sounds as if he was already a respectful gentleman before he became a priest!

No disparagement here either Bob.....Just a bunch of old farts with a diverse sense of humor. Anyone who would pay for my lunch is a wonderful person in my opinion.
Meeting old acquaintances and making new ones is especially meaningful as we age.

There's hardly anything that can't be twisted into a humorous situation given enough effort.
