Congratulations on your grit....On a related note, I was just telling my wife the other day that it won't be too long until we will have been married for half of a century.
We have Grand Kids that have kids. Now, realizing that will make ya feel old, I don't care who you are..LOL.

We hit #53 in November and have a granddaughter who will be 22 in February. 3 of us were born in February so we just have one BIG party for all of us.
We hit 40 years...best we could do since we were both married for a few years before. My stock quote is that is has been better than I had hoped and not as bad as she had feared.

We met at a restaurant 60 miles north making a slightly shorter drive for the kids who live in Iowa. Ended up with all 3 kids, 2 of 3 spouses, and 2 of 3 Grandkids plus our 'adopted' Cousin. We brought him into our home and raised him as our own until he graduated high school. GA brought along her wedding picture album that none of the kids had seen which made for some lighthearted jeers about past and present appearances. 
Congrats on the milestone. And on the family meeting to help you celebrate it!! Our 40th was back in September. While I always remember it, I never tell her “happy anniversary “ or give her anything. I’m not that bad- I’m just in the Colorado Rockies without cell service every year on our anniversary. I missed them all since 2005. Before that, I was home for it for a couple years when my dad was so sick that I wouldn’t go out there. Depending on what day season comes in, sometimes I also miss my wife’s birthday, since we got married 4 days before her 25th. But when I get home, I always make up for missed anniversary and birthday dates.today makes 50 years of marriage to Grouch Attack. Milestones like this are to be celebrated for more than one reason.
Kudos on making the 50 year one.
Couples who work at it in one way or another to stay together during the tough times,,, prove it can be worth it. It may not be perfect, or even very good. But it says a lot about character when couples can make it work, no matter what.
Sadly,, too many younger folks nowadays aren't being taught that it matters to work at a relationship.
It sounds as if y'all had a fun dinner with most of the family there. That's a real treasure.

We hit 44 this month. Second marriage for both of us.
