Once again the FBI is asking Apple to get into an iPhone, this time in Florida. The FBI has the phone and the shooters body(so they have his fingers and face)...but...they still can't get into his phone. I thought the government was watching our every move through our phones and had our life history. My guess is they would like this guys text messages but since an iPhone doesn't use your carrier to transmit texts, and, the iMessages are heavily encrypted the FBI is stuck.

Hi,

iPhones may be better secured than Androids, but I still hesitate to swallow the hook when the FBI says they can't crack one. I think there may be a little PR involved.

When the San Bernardino (CA) shooting took place, there was all kinds of commotion between FBI and Tim Cook of Apple about getting into the suspects' phones. Cook wouldn't give an inch, regardless of the fact it was the biggest terrorist attack in this part of the country to date. A lot of us who live less than 30 minutes from the scene had some less than complimentary comments about him for that stand. FBI fiddled with him for a day or two, and he finally told them to take the proverbial long walk off the short pier. I think FBI had the phones cracked in about 20 minutes after Cook stomped his foot the last time.

Were they THAT good? Or was there something behind the scenes where Cook was putting on a show for his minions to safeguard his phenomenal salary, yet secretly handed the key over to FBI under the proviso "Nobody is to know about this and we both win?" We'll never know...

There’s very little information in that phone that will be useful to the FBI depending on how it was set up. I assure you that they want his texts and the recipients but if they went through iMessage and he had his phone set up a certain way those messages are gone forever, they can’t be retrieved because they just don’t exist. Your iCloud is your iCloud, if you do not turn on iCloud backup on for an app and you delete your texts or have them setup to auto delete they are gone from your end. Apple has a standing $1,000,000 offer to anyone who can remotely hack into an iPhone...so far no one has been able to do it.
