Hello, I was given a box of Rainier Plated 125gr Flat noise. Anyone got a "mid-level" load using W231 for the 38 Special? To get about 700 -800 Fps would 4.2gr of w231 be about right ?? What has worked best for you for a GOOD target load?
Just cant stop feeding the GP100

That is like a pop gun. How about 5.0gr of HP-38 for a 38 special load and aprox. 950fps? OAL 1.455". I love Raniers because; no leading, clean, no lube, and you can crimp where you want. Great plinking and sport shooting bullets. :D :D

I use 4.5-4.7 of W231 with Meister 125gr lead FP and they shoot quite well. I use 5.2-5.4 gr of Universal with a variety of 125 gr bullets for practice loads in my wife's .38 snubbie. She shoots it well and is also recoil sensative.

I also like Rainier and you might try Berry's Manufacturing out of Utah. Their prices include shipping. Only problem is they recommend you not shoot at velocities over 1200 fps, mid range loads only.

I did some looking at my notes and found the following for 125 gr .38 Spec. 6.5-6.9 gr of AA5, 3.5 gr of Titegroup and the powder puff load, 3.5-4.0 gr of Trail Boss. The 3.5 load is almost like shooting a .22. All have been tested in my wife's Taurus T85 Ultralight and several other .38s.
