is there any reason I can't use a drill bit to create hollow-point lead .45 Colt bullets? all it would do is change POI, right? that and make them a little more destructive on pigs?
thanks

If drilled off center the bullet will be out of balance !

There`s a member over on CastBoolits that makes a tool for doing just what your talkin bout , Look in the vendor section.

POI will be affected by how much weight ya remove .

For hogs ,especially for bigger I`d opt for a soft nose , heck it`s nearly 1/2" to begin with !!!

I agree it can make them out of balance if drilled off center. Years ago,, I knew a guy who had a drill press,, and he made a jig to hold bullets in,, and was able to "center" them in it,, and drill them. he did ok with his work. However,, you can have bullet molds modified to make them hollowpoints,, cheap,, compared to what my friend did,,, or just purchase a different mold that has the HP pins.
However,, if it's pigs you are after,, I wouldn't use a HP design. I prefer a SWC with a wide meplate first.

Tried that and only got unacceptable results.
Buy hard cast or jacketed that you want. I personally prefer hardcast with a large metplate (? spelling) large frontal area.
