Help. My Trigger won't Work

I have a new 10/22TD. Installed the Volsqartsin bolt release plate, recoil buffer, and target hammer. All seems fine on the bench but when fire it the trigger does not release. Not sure of the right name for it but the gun fires and ejects and reloads ok but the trigger won't pull. Will work if I push the trigger forward a little. A click happens then I can fire the next round. Seems like something in trigger,release,sear. Please what did I do wrong?

The sear, disconnector, trigger shoe are all original and all you changed in the trigger group was the hammer (and the release)? Sounds like a Volq adjustable trigger that needs adjustment on the reset.

Until you get better advice, might try to reinstall the stock hammer and see if it works.

I'm sure you bought the proper kit that takes into account you have a polymer housing with a stock hammer that has no bushings.

Check to make sure you did not swap the trigger return spring and the disconnector spring. The disconnector spring is the lighter of the two springs.

The click you hear/feel when you push the trigger forward is the trigger resetting the sear/disconnector.

Thanks Douglas. I think that must be what I did. I'll rebuild it tomorrow and see. Volquartsin sent a new lighter spring and I thought it was for disconnector but the really little one must go there. That would explain why when I reinstalled all original parts it would not work at all cause I had the even heavier original trigger return spring at the disconnector position.

Glad you got it figured out, but why did you take all that out just to change the hammer and bolt catch? You really didn't need to remove the sear, dis-connector, or trigger. I never use the springs that come with VQ's hammer as they don't make much of a difference in the guns I've done.

What Precision32 said is a fairly common thing when folks do this. Pays to have a good area to work and able to keep things organized. Not one to use the VQ springs either, especially the hammer spring.

Rebuilt it this morning. Gotten pretty fast at this now after all the practice. The two springs were switched. The little spring sure looks like it belongs to the plunger. Usually I keep things very organized on my bench but had a little explosion when first took trigger group apart cause I did not understand beauty of the the assembly pin. The Volquartsen instructions are a little brief. Thanks for the help. You guys don't use either of the Volquartsen springs? Hammer or Release?

In my case I have tried the VQ hammers with both factory and VQ-supplied springs, and there isn't enough difference on the trigger pull gauge to make me go thru the additional hassle of changing them out.

I JUST got finished,about an hour GO, installing a new Volquartsen bolt release, hammer and springs (both hammer and trigger return). Made a world of difference in the trigger pull. The trigger needs to be removed in order to install their trigger return spring.
