I was at my ENT today to have my aids adjusted and my wife hearing checked
Keep in mind people are here because they can't hear
When you go to check in you are speaking and listening to the receptionist through a desktop to ceiling piece of lexan with two notches to pass paperwork through. You can't here what those behind the 'wall' are saying. I told the doctor that it was a truly genius move to erect the 'barrier'.

All too often,, people design things with their own physical things,, and do not consider others well outside their perimeters.

In USPSA,, when we design & build stages,, I'm constantly trying to consider ALL the (9) divisions, and ALL the different people. From 4 ft tall juniors, to 80 year old slower & more feeble, to the medically challenged people. We just had a stage where you needed to go either prone, or down to your knees. I only had a few people who were slow about coming back upright. And they all shot that port last.

The stage designer,, was told to consider such stuff too.

But you are correct,, doing stuff that causes problems for an already challenging thing isn't a good idea.

Different subject from your post.
I was having a hard time hearing dialog on tv (we leave captions on)
We have a stereo setup with a center speaker where most of the dialog is sent.
I do not know the correct scientific term but some speakers are rated for better clarity. (Brightness?) We swapped out old for newer.
Much easier for me to hear with the sharper clearer speaker.

my orthopedic just moved to a new building... the handicap parking is at the far west end of the building, approx. 300' from the door. So, you have to walk all that way to get to the entrance. Now, the check-in desk in directly in front of where the handicap parking is located. So now you have to walk from the entry basically all the way back to where you just parked. NOW, the Dr's office is on the east side of the building just past the entry that you just came in. Oh ya, when you check-out, it's rinse-n-repeat. I made my thoughts on the issue known to him. He stated I wasn't the only displeased patient, and that the Dr's are trying to modify the issue if possible... we'll see 😠

I have trouble hearing through those partitions that are now in most of the medical offices too, but I understand that they're likely for the protection of the staff. There are a lot of unhinged folk wandering free these days.

For the TV I've finally accepted that I'm in the Closed Captioning demographic.

The 'COVID mask' basically put me on furlough. Between wearing the mask for FTF contact and shifting to phone only contacts, I was ineffective at my job.

I am right with brother

Up until about two years ago, I always took pride in parking on the other side of the parking lot and leaving the handicap spaces to those people who really needed it. Would even say something to those that parked in handicap who had no disabilities. I wouldn’t be caught deadon one of those shopping cart scooters. Now I’ve kinda swung the other way, so to speak. If I find a spot closest to the door, I’ll take advantage of it and I usually don’t go into the grocery store without a cart in front of me to help me be stable. Still haven’t downgraded to the electric scooter thing. I hope I never will. Oh, in the hearing part, which was the focus of this thread, now I live alone and I don’t care how loud the TV is.

Ran into that very thing yesterday. All the parking close to the entrance is for handicapped, several rows. Of course it was pouring down rain. Yeah, we got wet.
All the close parking is supposed to be for the handicapped! Get old or disabled and you'll really appreciate it! 😁
