Guess I am old fashioned but the garbage is placed in a container and picked up each Tuesday morning by the trash collector and the dishwasher is ME.Same thin happens here if I don't run the dishwasher often...it keeps the keeps the drain line from the dishwasher clear...
I also do not use the dishwasher, but the house came with one...it drains into the disposal which will overflow into the dishwasher drain. Running the dishwasher a couple times a month on rinse will keep the garbage cleared. Not much leftover food here so mostly I feed birds a few snacks periodically.Guess I am old fashioned but the garbage is placed in a container and picked up each Tuesday morning by the trash collector and the dishwasher is ME.
FYI My plumber says NEVER put coffee grounds down your sink.Never had this problem before. Year old house, new construction. Warranty over. Sudden, and I mean overnight, odor coming from the disposal. Now we don't really use it much due to septic system. Very light crumbs, grounds, plate rinse etc. Pulled the trap and all clear. Rinsed out with several applications of baking soda and vinegar. Tried chunk ice and salt. Even bought some commercial cleaning tablets. Odor is worse in late afternoon and evening. Got worse when it warmed up outside. Not having any septic issues (that I'm aware of). Had a plumber change out a studer vent, but everything else was ok. He thought the diaphragm in vent might be bad. Still smelled bad.
NEVER had an issue with a disposal odor like this anywhere else we have been.
Thinking of replacing the unit. Any ideas?

Dishwasher: I must say I have three prewashers that work quite well. Final wash is up to me (unless they do a real good job).

It's a magic compost pile that disappears somewhere. What is a garbage disposal? The only ones I have are a son and a cat. All else goes into a trash can.
