GP100 or Blackhawk??

Want another .327 and leaning toward the Blackhawk but starting to like DA's. Always been a SA fan but lately liking the DA's too. I know the Blackhawk's gonna have a little more velocity from the longer barrel and it holds an extra round. What would some advantages be to getting the GP over the Blackhawk?

I have the GP in 327 4.2" barrel 7 shot. I have become more of a double action fan than single. The GP balances very nice in the hand and of course you have a choice of double or single action shot. I would say it just comes down to a mater of what you prefer. I'm thinking about another 327 but I'm leaning toward an SP. I like the Single action version and it could come down to which ever one I see first. Only thing about the SP I don't like is the windage adjustable only rear site. I would have liked it better if it had been the non adjustable as is on the 357s. I'll have to admit that SS Single action is a good looking firearm. I may have just changed my mind!

What steve said. The GP could double as a personal defense gun and a range gun. It sounds like maybe you have several SAs and maybe only one DA? Maybe you need the GP for "diversity".

You didn't mention which barrel length for the Blackhawk, but if it were me and this was to be a range gun, I might go with the SA in 5.5 or 6.5 inch. Likewise if I were going to dual purpose it for pest control.

There's a lot of "it all depends" in this and it's hard to make a recommendation without more info.

What's it to be used for???

Well, that all depends on which one I get. You see, I don't really "NEED" it. My 2 week old Smith 632 .327 has impressed me so much that I would like to see what this hot little round can do from a longer barrel.

GP .327 only made in 4.2" bbl. should be ok for occasioal CCW, ICORE and plinking.

Blackhawk .327 only made in 5.5" bbl should be great for small game, plinking and gonna give highest velocity.

Probably a good thing that I don't win the lottery!!! Buy all the guns on my want list, load ammo for a couple days, shoot for a couple days, fish or hunt for a couple days, load ammo for a couple days, shoot for a couple days, hunt or fish for a couple days........

I'd get the Blackhawk. If I wanted a double action, I'd go with a different brand.

I had the same dilemma but in .357 caliber. I was looking for another .357 revolver and the GP 100 was high on the list. I was also looking at the single action options with the idea of testing the Cowboy action shooting game out. I did not need anything specific since all my "needs" were already met in other guns at the house. Found a like new Blackhawk at a fair price and that is what came home. In my case it simply was serendipity. The Blackhawk was found first when the cash was in the pocket.

I have the 8 shot Blackhawk in 327. It is a super sweet platform, and a fun gun. I'd opt for it if you wish for a bit more versitility!

Depends what you are using it for, the GP 100 in my opinion is second only to the Colt Python, It's a great all around dependable weapon and when you run out of ammo you can use it as a hammer. Have 3 of them looking for that illusive 5" to round out the collection.
