Well, the Butcher, the Banker, and the Motorboat Mechanic sat side by side at the counter for lunch. They didn't have much to talk about until the banker opened his wallet and had a picture of his last fishing trip. Suddenly they all had a common point of conversation. There are probably more folks that have gone fishing than have gone shooting, but that common experience even if it's not done together, gives folks common ground. JMHO YMMV.

But I like most fish, except for maybe trout. Never thrilled me much for some reason.
Another very memorable experience was going on a trip to New Mexico with my church youth group when I was teenager. We camped somewhere in the mountains in the north part of the state along a trout stream. While the men (really boys) were fishing the women and girls were manning the campsite. We would catch a trout and give a whistle and toss it on the bank. One of the girls would come get it, clean it, pop it in the skillet for a few minutes, and bring it back to us. We were eating one trout ten minutes after catching it while still fishing for its buddies. I believe that qualifies as "The Good Old Days".
