My 30 Carbine. My First Ruger Revolver. 20 Years ago I went to the Boise Gun Show there at the fairgrounds. I was looking for a Stainless 357 Blackhawk, but found this instead. I'm sure I paid too much for it, no box or paperwork. But at the time I had never heard of 30 Carbine, so I figured, what the heck, must not be that common. I didn't even notice the canted front sight until later. Oh well. This gun got traded back and forth between my dad and I ever since, a few years with him and a few with me. It's finally ended up at my house...
I did shoot a lot of the black and yellow boxed UMC ammunition through it. I never thought it was particularly accurate, but a couple years ago at Contender's House for the East Coast Gathering, Ty shot it and thought it was just fine.
I've been reloading for a while, but could never get the hang of reloading for the tapered case. The headspacing without the rim made it difficult for some reason.
BUT, I digress. This fine Ruger is being shipped off tomorrow to David Clements for a caliber conversion and complete makeover. FINALLY!!! I have just always wanted a custom revolver. The history this gun as between my dad and I makes it the perfect choice, it's probably the most family heirloom firearm I have really. We'll go shooting when I get it back.
the gun in question...The new revolver? 45 Colt, Octagonal barrel, bisley frame, hard chrome finish, better sights, better trigger etc...
