first day with new sr9

Went out and shot my new Sr9 today, I love it. Only about 100 rounds today, but no malfunctions at all. I was afraid it would take me awhile to get used to the trigger, but I had no issues with the trigger at all, very smooth. This gun fits me really well and shoots smoothly. I plan on trying my hand at IDPA soon with this pistol so I do need to sight it in, it shoots several inches low, no big deal, all guns need sighted in. Very happy with my purchase.

Winchester white box from wally world. I plan to reload for it as soon as I get some bullets ordered.

Great choice of firearm. One of Rugers finest pistols IMO. Mine shot low and left, but after a some time at the range it all straightened out. Mine eats every type of ammo with no problems at about 3K rounds. Glad you like it. Congrats and happy shooting. :mrgreen:

Mine's the SR9c....but same wonderful ergonomics and same great trigger! Enjoy! Through 400 rounds, I've had only one glitch - one faulty trigger reset. Took care of that with a good cleaning and lube. Traded up from a P95, an outstanding 9mm in its own right, but the SRs are wonderful.

I plan on reading using either plated or lead bullets for practice and idpa competitions. The savings will be substantial since I load for other caliber as well. I may even mold my own bullets. I enjoy reading and shooting my own shells. Sometimes that satisfaction outweighs the money factor.

Don...best of luck to you and the wife. Mine's a. It fan of the 22/45...not so much .38s and 9mm. She hasn't shot the SR9c yet...and when she does, I hope she doesn't like it too much.

.....Reloading with FMJs or JHPs really isn't cost effective.....

Don, I really couldn't disagree more, I load very accurate 9mm FMJ bullets for around $.13 a round, that's $13 for a hundred, I load very nice poly/moly coated (not plated) lead 9mm for $.11 a round.

I do buy in bulk but I shoot enough that I order my components about four times a year. Even if you pay $100 for 1000 bullets, you should easily be able to load at a $15 for a hundred (FMJ or JHP).

I don't recommend reloading to very many pistol shooters as they need to commit to it to make it pay off but reloading 9mm is cost effective or allows a shooter on a budget to shoot close to twice as much as factory ammo.
