I'm thinking about a Holosun HS407C X2 for my new RXM. I am wondering if there are cheaper brands that have nearly the quality of Holosun. The HS407C is selling for around $180-190 on Ebay. I was looking at Vortex and Swampfox. What else is out there? Thanks.

What value do you put in the "solar" aspect of it?

Personally IDGAS about that, so that opens up the options.

Good luck!

I tried a Sig Romeo something on one of mine, but I am slower than slow with it.

Finally removed it and went back to irons... with a green laser... for the dark times. I am much faster with the laser.

Be VERY careful buying red dots on eBay. The majority are counterfeit…don’t ask me how I know 🙄 I put a OSIGHT green dot closed emitter on my 19 & couldn’t be happier. Caught it on sale at Amazon for like $170 otd

I have a Shield RMSc on my Max 9. It is made in the UK. It automatically adjusts brightness so it is always on. When you put it in a dark safe, it hardly draws any power. They claim the battery will last for 2 years. I replaced mine after 1 year just to be safe.

How can you tell if it's counterfeit? (I just bought one on Ebay yesterday. Now I feel a bit ill)

When you get it, check for a serial number and if there is one, check with Holosun to see if it exists in their records.

Ebay, and even Amazon, are ripe with forgeries.

I ended up with an Osight, but still should be able to register with them. Thanks for the tip.

My Vortex Venom have been great sights.
That said I won't buy another RD that doesn't have the "shake awake" feature.

Holosun HS407C X2 is still the sweet spot at $180-190. It's hard to beat for reliability, Shake Awake solar backup, and long battery life on a pistol like the RXM.

Vortex Defender CCW or similar Solid runner up. Great glass clarity, lifetime warranty, and easy top load battery. Slightly shorter battery life but many guys prefer it for the peace of mind. Very close in real world use.

Swampfox Justice Sentinel Cheaper and decent for the money. Good window and brightness, but most users say Holosun feels tougher long term and holds up better for carry defense. Fine for range fun, less proven for hard use.

Other decent budget options Sig Romeo5 or Primary Arms SLx around $120-150 if you want to save more, but they don't match Holosun's features. Skip no name Amazon stuff for a carry gun.

If the Holosun's in your price range, grab it it's the one most people end up trusting. Vortex if warranty is your top priority.
