Ruger SR9

Listening to Colion Noir talking about carry handguns and while he was talking about the Max9 he commented that he had no idea why Ruger discontinued the SR9 and the SR9 compact. I had concluded a long time ago I must be the only one that felt that way. Glad to hear that’s not the case.
Over the years I’ve had a ton of different 9mm’s but the SR9 still is hands down my favorite. I personally think Ruger screwed the pooch when they did that. I think we need to strongly encourage Ruger to bring it back.
With all the haters, terrorists, antifa types, and it’s getting worse, that would be my no BS serious get down to business handgun. May be time to reaccess what we carry day to day.

I think Ruger has their future for semi autos invested in the XRM …… pretty soon virtually ALL the polymer semi autos, regardless of brand, will have interchangeable parts. All Glock-like.

Sr9c is a great gun. I carry a hellcat now though. Still wouldn't get rid of the Sr9c.

I have owned multiple SR9's and 40's. Yes, they always worked as designed.
That said, I have very little affinity for these or most other plastic pistols. As soon as there was a chance to trade them off for the next plastic offering, I did so.
And although there is a place for cheap throw away plastic pistols, I've found myself returning to all-metal pistols for carry. Namely, SIG.

But ya know what? I own a RXM and I think it's the best in it's class.

I’ve been a fan of the SR9 since the 2007 introduction. Rugers first striker fired pistol. My OD frame pistol had the recall for the trigger issue early on. Other than that, Ruger got it right. I purchased a new PCC last year, and strangely it was set up for SR9 magazines. I also enjoy the SR40, and am on the hunt for an SR45.

SR and P series all the way! Although I do like the American Pistol and Security 9 as well. Good old hammer fired and striker fired.

I agree whole heartedly that the SR series were underrated. I have a 15 year old SR9c that shoots as good as the day I bought it and had an SR45 that shot as good, if not better, than my 1911's with more capacity, lighter in weight, and double action. Regretably, I sold the .45.

I think Ruger was a bit ahead of it's time, because if I remember right, when they put the loaded chamber indicator on the top of the SR slide (one of the first btw), they got a lot of criticism for caving to the "guns are unsafe" crowd/politicians. In hindsight, they should have marketed it differently. Nowadays, a lot of pistols have loaded chamber indicators the protrude from the pistol. Not because they're going woke, but because it is incredibly valuable for checking loaded status in the dark without press checking the slide.
