Fireworks in San Francisco?!

Of course, most fun things are illegal here Peoples Republic. Ya wanna watch fireworks, the City government will put on a show over the Bay. In the fog. Pastel lights and all that...
I live in the western half of the City, 3 blocks from the beach, and most of my neighbors are ethnic Chinese or of other Asian cultures. They like fireworks. A lot.
The Great Highway and the beach are positively lit up with fireworks right now. As far as stopping it, the Park Service wouldn't know where to begin.
We don't always speak the same language, but a lotta the time we speak the same language. Glad they're my neighbors.

I hear you.
In NC,, any fireworks that "Spin, leave the ground or explode" are illegal. But in our neighboring state of SC,, they are not illegal. As such,,, a LOT of folks go south, buy their products & enjoy them at home. The local LEO's only respond to actual complaints. Too many others to figure out where to start. I'm lucky,, I can relax on my porch, and listen to & watch many of my neighbors enjoy their freedom w/o it costing me a penny!

The city I worked in prohibited possession or discharge of fireworks. The 4th of July also had us hustling call to call for fireworks. Hundreds of calls with eight patrol cars to handle them. Usually just a "hey, ya'll stop that" then on to the next complaint. Issuing citations didn't work since we had to take an hour to document the call, document the fireworks confiscation, soak the fireworks (couldn't place them into the evidence room) all the while calls kept coming in. In addition the judge wouldn't find the cited person guilty.

I regarded 4th of July fireworks as perhaps the greatest example of mass civil disobedience I've seen. Maybe, just maybe the city council's ordinance should have focused on irresponsible use instead.
