DVD visits with Nita

I was always sort of a camera buff, and Nita and I had the pleasure of travelling around this great country. So, some time back I organized many photos of Nita, or Nita and me, and placed them on a DVD, some 200 or so photos over the years.

Now, sometimes on a lonely night, I place that DVD in the player and have a nice "visit" with my beloved.

Helps a lot at times.

I've often said that one of the best modern tools is the camera & the motion picture camera,, when used like you have mentioned.
You can often pick up little details you may have noticed, but overlooked as "normal" when viewing such things. And they will most often,, make a person smile at their memories.

We live in a golden age. Imagine before photography all you had was your memory, maybe a drawing or painting if you were lucky.

Bob, I’m glad you can find some comfort in those pictures.

My wife and I, with the kids, used to go to my Grandparents house and I'd set my Camcorder on a table off to the side with it recording. We'd just talk and interact like normal with them and I had quite a bit of recordings of them. Years after they had passed, I grouped the recordings of them and put them on a tape and then on CD/DVD's and made copies for my siblings, kids and cousins. They can see and hear the Grandparents as they actually were! And so can any of the future generations.

I watch "Finding Your Roots" PBS series and while IO'm not a real fan of Van Jones, he made a statement when he was on the show that something like: "You don't die until after the last person says your name"! I've done a lot of ancestry research so a lot of my ancient and recent relatives still live! If I can get it all organized as I intend and distibute electronic copies to all the other relatives, a lot will live a great while longer.

Bob, it's neat that you have those pictures to re-enforce your memory of your wonderful wife and partner in life. As long as Nita lives in your memory, she lives! Memories of happy times are good for your soul IMO!

I have some video of one night my wife and I sat around with her grandpa. He was telling us stories of trips he went on with my wife’s late grandma. All good times. We laughed and sang old Russian drinking songs.

That must have been 11 or 12 years ago. He died a couple years later. But to this day my wife loves to watch them from time to time.

Great memories. I’m glad you have those videos, Bob.

BOB: I am so very sorry, for the large amount of pain. You are still experiencing form the loss of your Wife Nita. I truly wish I could do or say something that would ease some of your pain. But as you and I both know I can`t. But I wish I could. My prayers are still headed Your direction, for as long as You need them. But as alot of people say, this kind of thing can take along time. I hope this dark period of Your Life improves in the very near future. I would be honored to help You in any way I could.
