Dumb Question?

I own two New Vaqueros in .45LC and the fixed sights give rise to my question.
Using a six-o-clock hold on the bullseye is there an optimum distance when the sights are properly aligned (that is with the top of the front blade level with the sides of the rear groove)?
For instance, are the sights set for ten yards, 25 yards... or is it strictly a random thing that must be solved by trial and error?

All of mine have been dead on at 15 yards, however this is with my handloads and in the case of two of them some barrel turning and front site filing. As far as where Ruger intends them to be I have no idea.

Every Ruger handgun manual I've seen says the fixed sights are factory set for 25 yards. That seems correct for windage, but most shoot low at 25 yards, out of the box. I think Ruger leaves the front sight high, for personal adjustment.

Balderdash! A "snubbie" will indeed hit a 25 yard target!

Let's see....... 2.75/25 = X/100 Solve for X; X=11"

So, I guess I'll be at a slight handicap shooting my 10-1/2" Super at 100 yard targets.

Rest assured this gun clobbers 100 yard targets.
