conversion to 10MM

Is it feasible to convert a SR1911 from .45 ACP to 10MM Auto? 8)

Since they now offer the SR1911 in 10mm, it probably is possible but would probably cost quite a bit. Why not just buy a new one in 10mm?

I already have a SR1911 in .45 ACP, which I bought to scratch an itch, and that really no longer interests me that much. I see conversion units that range from 1/2 to 2/3 the price of a new gun, so I just thought that would be a better/cheaper way to go.

Besides that, after I use it a little, I can always pass it along to someone else who wants to do the same conversion.

We shooters are a little fickle that way....no? 8)

Ruger's barrels and bushing setups are quite different.

If you find aftermarket slides, barrels, mags etc. Then... Maybe.

If you want a 10mm, sell your .45 and buy a 10mm. And then when that starts to bore you, sell it and buy something else.

Just bought me one of the new 10mm. Seems to me that would be the way to go. Why start adapting? Sell or trade the .45 and get a 10mm.

Nah, hang onto it. You really need a full set of calibers for Ruger pistols.

Probably looking at an entire new top end (breech face is different). Probably cheaper to buy a SR1911-10.
