My SSR1911 is ejecting to my 1 oclock, but at a distance of 12-14 yds. Does anyone know what the recoil spring weight Ruger puts in thios thing? Is a recoil spring replacement the answer? Shooting handloads 180 gr XTPs at 1290 fps. 14 gr AA9.

My experience from owning multiple 10mm semiautomatic handguns is that is the nature of the 10mm beast.
I have owned Colt Delta Elite, S & W 1006, S & W 1076 and the SIG Sauer P220. All of them in 10mm.
The SIG is the only semiauto that I kept.
It's what 10mm semiautomatics do. FLING BRASS!
The only 10mm handgun that doesn't fling brass is a revolver.

Your load is a full-house 10mm load. The Ruger factory spring is likely too light for that. Swap to a 24 lb Wolff recoil spring, test your ejection, and you'll probably see it settle into the 3-4 o'clock range at a reasonable distance. If it's still forward, go to 26 lb. That load deserves a spring that can handle it.

My factory SR1911 in 45 slung it at about 2 o clock and almost that far. Never saw it to be a problem.

The CMMG throws the brass almost as far as the slug

Post number 6 is totally confusing to me. Do I need a lighter spring or a heavier one. Post 6 suggests both.

Ignore that post. 10MM will beat the heck out of your gun with a lighter spring. If you want heavier that's fine if you shoot full house loads. If not the stock spring is fine....I personally don't care where my 10MM's sling empties.

I don't have a Ruger 10mm 1911, but I did build one and found that the ejector was pretty long. I filed little bit at a time off and now it drops them within a couple of steps. It was a very long ejector, longer than any I've seen on any 1911. It was throwing them into the next county.

My RIA 10mm 1911 tends to fling brass a fair distance....nature of the caliber. You should see my Cetme fling brass into next week.

I don't know much about a 10 MM 1911 but my SIG P220 sure kicks fired brass into the ether-sphere never to be seen again.
