Camo Red Label?

This morning at a garage sale, I ran across a 12 guage Red Label that is totally covered in camo. It is pretty much the same camo pattern that is on a 10-22 that I have. The guy who is selling it says that Ruger made 500 of these for some distributor. He has five choke tubes and the box (I didn't see it, but he said he thought the box was plastic). If I remember correctly, the serial number was 411-62479. It has been fired, but it looks to be in decent shape. His asking price is $1050.

Can someone give me some more info on this? I'm kind of strapped for cash at the moment, but I could possibly trade him out of it or sell a couple others to buy this one. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Lipsey's Distributor Special I think.

No clue how many were made, think it was 4 - 6 years ago.

Here's what I have on that one from my reference:

KRL-1227CA Special Distributor model with “Realtree “HD” Hi definition brown Camouflage finish”. Unknown quantity produced for Lipsey’s. Known s/n range 411-62737 to 411-79636.

I don't have any idea how many were produced though.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty certain this sn is 411-62479. It may be a new low sn for your records, Chet15. I'll try to talk to him again to verify the sn. I'm still debating whether or not to figure out a way to buy or trade for it.

I recall those. Always thought they ruined a nice classy O/U with that finish. JMO.

Yeah, but we managed to sell one when they were available. There's no accounting for taste.

 +1

I played with one for awhile. It makes perfect sense for a turkey gun, allowing an instant choice of two chokes.

A friend of mine looked at this gun today, but he didn't buy it, either. He told me the serial number was 411-62795, not what I said earlier (I suffer from CRS!). It does fall into the range provided by Chet15.

Jeff, that was a nice write up. I had a little time on Sunday, and I found your review of this. I honestly had never heard of a camo Red Label until I saw this one.

Thanks for everyone's input.
