Call Ruger Records department to see how the gun shipped. I have never seen or heard of a factory brass framed single six.

Ruger toyed with the idea in at least 1965/1966 as there's a photograph that exists of Bill Ruger sitting behind his rolltop desk with a bunch of guns laying all over everything in a hodgepodge manner. One of those guns is a fixed sight RSSM type Single-Six with brass grip frame and what appears to be a high polish.
As mentioned, the factory will be the final say.

Just another thought.
Are you certain the grip frame is actually brass? There have been many instances of aluminum grip frames being anodized in colors . . . "brass" among them.

Unless there's other documentation of the claim, I fail to see that the photo of Mr. Ruger's desk collection guarantees the actual material of any grip frame shown.

Well, it is different at least with that Dragoon type sqare back trigger guard and Super Blackhawk grip panels...note the distance between the front of the grip and the medallion....1/2-inch.
Maybe its a "Super" Single-Six prototype??? Get it? :D
I'm with flatgate though....sure looks like a brass frame to me.

Wouldn't be the first "Super" Single-Six we've seen, would it? I'm pretty sure ol' Bill had a couple of screwdrivers in his desk . . .

Well, I'd bet the farm it's a MR3-DB grip frame on that RSSM...... it sure ain't no gold painted OM Super grip frame. :D

I do not see RSS SN 28 in that photo......................Was termed a prototype "desk gun" for decades. 8)

There's a "Local" up in Jackson's Hole that used to plow the roads/parking lots at the ski area where I worked. He has a model RSSM with a gold colored grip frame. He swears on a stack of Bibles it came that way from the gun shop. I know of one other that resides in good friend's "stash"....

PS The vast majority of Ruger Grip Frames WILL EXHIBIT some sort of "part number/nomenclature". If you take pics make certain you show the "numbers".
