I used oven cleaner and lots of elbow greaseLooks good. How did you do it?
yes, it was but I injoyed it.More work than you thought huh?
I polished it with mothers aluminum polish time will tell if that works. But it sure made the grip frame shine.Very nice work. Is there a wax or other coating that you apply to prevent oxidation of the aluminum?
Also, nice buffalo grips, they look great!
Same here easy off made quick work of the stripping process.I like it! I did one years ago. I think I used oven cleaner to strip mine.
Not that I've seen but since its not aluminum I wonder how ugly it would be.Has anyone stripped a grip frame of a Wrangler?
I have stripped Zink/ZAMAK frames before and the come out kind of pewter grey. Not that I've seen but since its not aluminum I wonder how ugly it would be.
Exactly my thoughts. I have a black Super Wrangler that I think would look good with a contrasting grip frame. What I really hate is the mold seam it has.Not that I've seen but since its not aluminum I wonder how ugly it would be.
I stripped the grip frame on my 2015 Super Single Six a couple of years ago and I haven't put any protection on it and it hasn't oxidized. If it started I would just use a good car paste wax. Oh, I'm sorry, I think your revolver looks very nice, you did a good job!Very nice work. Is there a wax or other coating that you apply to prevent oxidation of the aluminum?
Also, nice buffalo grips, they look great!
What do you use for the powder coated ones.If you get an aluminum grip frame from the last decade it's powder coated and a heck of a lot easier to strip the finish than the older anodized grip frames.
I just used a paint remover on mine. It's been awhile so I'm not sure of the brand. It took a couple or three applications but wasn't that difficult. My biggest surprise when I got it stripped was several flaws and voids in the grip frame that had been covered by the powder coat but with bare metal I had to do some sanding to smooth them out. I wasn't expecting that. What do you use for the powder coated ones.
It resists most everything I have tried.
