Did my first grip frame strip.

I have always liked the look of a two tone gun and so I had these buffalo horn grips, so I did my first strip and polishes. What do you all think?

I polished it with mothers aluminum polish time will tell if that works. But it sure made the grip frame shine.

I have stripped Zink/ZAMAK frames before and the come out kind of pewter grey.
Not bad but not shiny aluminum.

Exactly my thoughts. I have a black Super Wrangler that I think would look good with a contrasting grip frame. What I really hate is the mold seam it has.

I stripped the grip frame on my 2015 Super Single Six a couple of years ago and I haven't put any protection on it and it hasn't oxidized. If it started I would just use a good car paste wax. Oh, I'm sorry, I think your revolver looks very nice, you did a good job!

There's too many New Model alum alloy grip frames around to fool with the Wrangler zinc grip frame. Put it in the box for the next owner and pick up a used alum alloy grip frame to polish for the Wrangler. If you get an aluminum grip frame from the last decade it's powder coated and a heck of a lot easier to strip the finish than the older anodized grip frames.

My preference would be a stainless steel replacement and never worry about tarnishing.

I just used a paint remover on mine. It's been awhile so I'm not sure of the brand. It took a couple or three applications but wasn't that difficult. My biggest surprise when I got it stripped was several flaws and voids in the grip frame that had been covered by the powder coat but with bare metal I had to do some sanding to smooth them out. I wasn't expecting that.
