Have not owned a Ruger single action in about 25 years and just picked up a Bisley 45 Colt with the 5.5 barrel. Trigger is a tad stiff with just a tiny bit of creep.

Where to start with the trigger? What after market springs should be switched in? I do remember the SBH's of the 70's that I owned were easy to work on and some honing of the sear notch with a hard arkansas stone fixed the creep in short order?

Any other advice before I tear into it?

I'd "detail" the hammer/trigger contact points, i.e. smooth up the contact areas. Make sure the "sear" of the hammer and the "sear" of the trigger are fitting together "perfectly". A wee bit of stone work should square up the actual hammer/trigger contact spot. Next look for "creep". Don't forget the sides of the hammers and triggers. Shoot for 3, 4, or 5 lbs pull. (Methinks lots of "lousy trigger jobs" are the result of "lousy" workmanship......kapish?

Khunhausen's book is THE best.....

Here is a good article on adjusting a Ruger single-action trigger. If you do nothing else bending the trigger return spring will reduce the trigger pull. Just be sure you still have a good trigger reset. :D
