Another TV show "oops"

Was watching a M*A*S*H rerun and noticed everyone wearing black boots. Black boots didn't start to enter service till 1956. When I went to basic, in February of 1960, they were still issuing brown boots and black dye.

TV and movie flubs can be a lot of fun to catch. I Dream of Jeannie, she was locked up in a bottle for 2,000 years but knew characters like Marco Polo, Napolean, Shakespeare. Or on Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan when Khan recognizes Chekhov even though the episode Space Seed was in season 1 but Chekhov wasn't on the show until season 2. I have seen that TV and movie makers will sometimes toss in continuity errors for the fun of seeing who might catch them.

Watch Tv for accuracy and you're watching for the wrong reasons. Watch a comedy and expect it...you're way off course.

* a lot of the scenes in the show were done waist-up because a LOT of the cast hated the boots and they'd often not be wearing them while filming.

First time I ever caught a obvious mistake was in the show FBI with Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. they had been chasing /tracking a wanted Felon through out the show and they finally catch him near Charleston S.C. and he jumps out of his care runs over to the cliff and starts running down a walk way along the side of the cliff down to the beach.... try to find a cliff at the beach in S.C.

They also wear green underwear on M*A*S*H and that didn't start until the Vietnam era.

Uh, they filmed The FBI in Southern California. A lot of our beaches have cliffs. :)

I knew that but never thought about it until I watched that episode and it was so obviously not on a beach in S.C. that I started wondering how much other stuff I saw on TV and in Movies was not the actual location in the story line.

I think we all fall victim to the illusions on TV and in the movies... and it is just accepted as fact until we experience reality... an example is shooting someone with one shot and they fall over dead.

I just recently was reading that the star of "House" sometimes switched the limp from one leg to the other just to see if anyone noticed, and no one ever did.
Read somewhere that Dennis Weaver, Chester Goode on Gunsmoke, would sometimes forget which leg was supposed to be his bad one, but of all the episodes I've seen, never caught him limping with the wrong leg.

BUT, BUT, BUT the producers had NEVER been NEAR the coast of SC; However they DID KNOW the CA coastline.

Radar had a hand abnormality, but it is never on film. He's usually holding a clip board or something.

Sounds just like James Doohan, Scott on Star Trek the original series who had a finger shot off in World War 2, so his right hand is not shown very well.
