Another TV oops

Watching "The Rifleman" today and they are afoot in the desert. The 'dumb stuff' is they are sleeping at night and traveling during the day. Then the kid goes looking for help, drinks the last drop of water, and throws the canteen away.
Standard procedure. They always throw away the canteen. It wouldn't be as dramatic if they didn't. Then if they walk a couple miles and discover water, they would have to walk back to get that canteen. I wonder why they have never made a movie where that happened?

I guess because no one is stupid enough to throw the canteen away in the first place.

I don't know how many times I've seen the throw away the canteen when it's empty in old westerns🤣 Kind of like throwing the gun when it's empty. 😉
How about the old Superman TV program where the bad guy empties his gun trying to shoot Superman and then throws the gun at him like that's going to stop him when the bullets didn't?

Or, when they finally find someone with a canteen of water, instead of drinking it, they pour it over their head.

Every darn 5v show and movie, they throw the empty canteen down and keep walking....
🤷😹😹😹😹🤠

My LGS has some kind of Barrett for sale, over $10,000. I joke about needing to buy 2 in case one runs out of ammo….

Or this, Bad guy points a gun at good and demands good guy toss his gun.
So many things happen on TV or movie and people think because the scene looked good that's the way it happens in real life.

A couple of LAPD guys surrendered their weapons. One died in an onion field. The other had to live with it.

Was just talking about that book yesterday, the wife had never heard of it or the movie. Wambaugh is one of my favorite authors. Ted Danson’s first movie I believe, as short as his dialogue was.

It just means that the good guy is too stupid to live.

What did you expect? Just a tv show no one in their right mind would do that!
Oh well carry on!

I must say sleeping by night and travellin by day makes sense to me. I've been in the desert at night, and its dark, dark, dark!

Once, in the country I tripped over a cow in the dark!

I watched a YouTube video depicting an ambush of a German firing squad detil preparing to execute some French resistors. Just as the execution is about to start, gunfire explodes fro every wuarter from French resistance fighters. They are everywhere, in the barber's chair in a barbershop, in the markets, on roof tops (Always have to be some posted on roof tops, regardless of the setting/time perios.)and seveeral are armed with what appears to be AK-47s.
