So my dad is almost 93 and has severe leg cramp problems. The only relief he has found that works for him are Hylands leg cramp pills. He takes a few every 4 hours, so he goes through a lot of them.

Walmart never seems to have more than 5 or 6 bottles on the shelf, so we started looking for a better supplier on line. Most places want $12-25 per bottle and limit your order to 3-12 bottles. But we found a wholesale supplier that offers up to 36 bottles for around $10 each delivered.

We have ordered from them 3 times now, and even though their website kind of sucks, they deliver quickly and problem free. The order we just received is the first time we have a problem.

$320 for 36 bottles after tax plus $30 shipping is still below $10 each, and the invoice matches the order. However, the box had 72 bottles inside when I opened it.

My dad can't afford to pay for the extra 36 bottles right now, and we don't want to rip off this company. So my thought is to do nothing until he has used 36 and is at the point we would normally be placing another order.

Then we can contact the company and tell them what happened. If we pay another $320 at that time, we save the additional shipping cost and the company gets paid for the product they delivered. That seems fair to me, and I'll bet that the company will be surprised we want to make things right with them.

Am I off anywhere in my thinking here?

contact them. that will be the proper american way.
and. the way G-d teaches.....'thou shalt not steal.'
once you tell them, they are given the decision to bless you or charge you. its their property.

I'm fairly certain the company won't ask for the excess to be returned and equally confident that they won't charge for THEIR mistake.
I vote for giving them a heads up that the mistake was made and add an 'atta boy' for their past good service. ;)

+1 for contacting the wholesaler. Sounds like someone in their shipping department made a mistake, and they'd probably like to know about it.
And, as mentioned above, they'll likely not charge you anything, and just write off the loss.

I would bet the company would let you have them as they are pills and jump all over who ever made the mistake. Once they say ok Count your blessings.
Hylands works. So does gator aid and even Quinine, but that needs a script. Magnesium pills work so does dill pickle\juice and some sea salt in a glass of water.

Amazon sent multiple items to my wife so she wanted to contact them. Turns out there is no automated response form for "you sent me too many." She had to call them. When she did get someone on the phone she said they seem to absolutely flabbergasted. They told her not to worry about it, and commented, "no one's ever told us that before."

Thanks for posting and I agree that at minimum a call to the seller would be a good idea.

I also have had cramps but was under the impression that obtaining Quinine was severely restricted and come to find out that Ebay and other online sources is pretty easy. I'll have to get some.

I can remember on two occasions Amazon has sent me someone else’s order. It was addressed to me on the box. But the inside had other stuff than what I ordered.

The last time it was a bunch of party supplies and snacks for a summer pool party.

I did call them and they don’t have a mechanism for returning things you didn’t order.

My Daughter once ordered a Blackstone griddle for her Husband's birthday and had it shipped to my house so he would not see it. They somehow shipped 2 of them. Not sure anymore if it was Walmart or Amazon, but when she contacted them, they said to just keep it. So we each got a griddle for half price. 😃

So I took the advice here and contacted the wholesaler about the double shipment. They were happy that I let them know. Interestingly, they requested the return of the extra bottles. They emailed me a prepaid shipping label, and I dropped them off at FedEx about 2 hours ago.

Thanks for sharing your opinions. I'll sleep better knowing we did the right thing.

Why would you be asking others what to do?
