I purchased a MK 678 recently and while a good functioning firearm, it just had a few minor discolorations between the receiver assembly and the grip frame. The grip frame was closer to the original blue, and the barrel and receiver assembly were much lighter, like it had faded and had streaks in it and some minor freckling. I decided that it was a worthy choice to be sent back to Ruger for them to put their nice real blue on it. l send it off the middle part of December, knowing that the Christmas breaks and the holidays would slow down production causing it to be delayed. Three 1/2 weeks later, today, I received a gun back. I looked it over really closely and can tell you that the Blue is perfectly matched for the upper receiver to the grip frame. the gun is absolutely perfect with a bunch of new parts that I didn’t expect to have done. It also shows that they test fired 20 rounds of CCI mini mag to test function. The gun is clean, there’s no sign anywhere of pitting crackling or other surface irregularities the blue is the same throughout the gun, even the barrel looks like it had been swabbed through after the test firing. It cost me $69.28 which I paid for directly to Ruger to ship it back and they sent me the pick/up label. I put it in FedEx myself and they shipped it back. So in my opinion, the mailing fee that I paid with a two-way run on the gun is not bad at all and I didn’t have to go through an Ffl. Fedex delivered it to my door this morning about an hour ago. After customer service received the MK678, a lady called me, I didn’t catch your name, and ask me what did I want done. I told him the reblue and just to check for function to make sure that everything was up to par, cost of $110 she says. OK says I.
Get-er-done,
I’m also including the notes that are on the bottom of the invoice. It’s kind of small, but I hope you can read them OK, It looks like they did a pretty complete list of replacing everything in the firearm that may have had any kind of wear. I didn’t ask them to do that. It was something they did automatically in the process of the repairs to the firearm to get it back up to 100% factory function. I think the name of the gentleman who talked to me was Chris and here’s a shout out him and the whole department for the work they did on this firearm. It’s like a new gun. Look at the pictures and tell me if you could see anything wrong. They sent a new silicone wipe down rag as well.
Kudos out to Ruger service department. You guys are the best.
