Actors

1st hand knowledge - a lady I know was a minor actress, did things like the airport P/A voice in a famous movie. Nice person, liberal, but not irrationally so.
2nd hand knowledge- Pacino is a good guy, from my sister that worked at the nursing home his mother was in.
Some family worked as contractors in the Hamptons - Jerks and bit**es include Alec Baldwin, Martha Stewart and especially her daughter. Steven Baldwin is okay.
And that’s all I have to say about that.

Pacino is a very private person. Lives a quiet life, is generous.

In the future, the world won't need good actors like have passed recently. The new replacements will all be created with A.I. like most video game characters.

My wife won’t watch a movie if the dog dies or some ass beating on them . I try not to watch de Nero movies but you have to admit he’s a damn good actor godfather come on

My wife and I feel the same way about dogs. She told me some quote she saw the other day; I can't remember exactly, but it was something like "Dogs spend their whole lives with us, but we only get to spend a fraction of our lives with them."
This tune says it all.. I smile thru my tears on this one

I have not seen the new Reacher series.
No plans on seeing it. After I watched an interview of the star blowing up on Trump and all things MAGA I have no use for him. Free speach is nice but you do not have to crap on my beliefs.
Same thing with DeNiro. I am tired of his F bombs when he shares his thoughts on Trump.
Too many other things to watch (and books to read) to waste time with the wokesters.

Personally I don't think the newer generation even know what a custom gun is.
Today a custom gun is a bunch of parts ordered on the internet and put together.

Unless it adds to the functionality, I don't want it. Engraving? Nah. Metal carving? Nah. Fancy grips? Nah. I'm not good enough to appreciate a super-duper trigger.

We very seldom go to the movies or watch TV, both of us preferring to read. I try not to know too much about actors, always being disappointed when I find out an actor who played a great part is a flaming lib, especially rabid anti-gun libs who make millions of dollars pretending to shoot people on screen. There are way too many of those hypocrites...

People seem to be enamored with people who make millions playing dress-up and make believe, play a sports game, or hold an office, thinking they are somehow special and their opinions are more valid than their own. When you read about the risks our founding fathers took and the sacrifices they and many of our celebrities made during WWII (only two examples of many), our current crop of 'beautiful people' is a very sorry lot.

Didn't know that about Whatshisname, Alan something.

I've read most of the Reacher books. The stories are interesting but so many details make no sense that my brain hurts.

We watched a special on Clint Eastwood last night. A true legend in Hollyweird for sure. In it,, they actually discussed the fact that he made several movies with a director who said; "Clint is conservative, and I'm a liberal. Yet,, we never talk politics & we respect each other."

DeNero is rabidly liberal,, so we prefer to not watch him if possible. And yes,, we know we can't avoid such stuff completely,, we do try to avoid the truly offensive ones.

There will always be the rarer actor who comes along & stands heads & shoulders above the others.

As for gunsmiths,, there are rising stars out there as well, but we will always remember the greats with fondness for their craftsmanship.
Robert De Niro, and Liam Neeson, both, make tough guy "Shoot 'em Up" movies, and BOTH are rabid Hollywood liberals.
BOTH are rabid anti-gunners.
Me, and mine do not watch anything they are involved in.

Freedom of speech does NOT include freedom from the consequences of the words spoken.
Probably best to keep some things to one's self.

I agree. But there are differences here.

Neeson may have views different than ours, but he does not go out of his way to stick it in our nose. He may explain his views when interviewed, but he is also respectful in his responses.

OTOH, DeNiro is what I would call "rabid". He goes out of his way to spout hate and distain. HE is the one that should be boycotted.

When it comes to actors I have no interest (and usually no knowledge) of their political leanings. I can enjoy their work without taking into account any other aspect of them as a person. Watching movies (just like reading books, and I'm an avid reader) requires a suspension of your disbelief. If you can't do than, then you can't enjoy either books or movies. I'll generally seek out anything that Tom Hanks is in, and for all I know he could be a satan-worshipping child-molesting dog-torturing wife beater.

While my wife knows all about celebrities and their personal lives, I couldn't care less about them, and I don't believe they are any more qualified than I am to give their opinion on politics. I believe that most thoughtful people feel the same way, but as long as there are people out there who idolize celebrities, they will be used by political parties to endorse their agendas, just like companies use athletes to endorse products. All we can do is try to not be the sheep that follow the herd because they hear the bell. I don't care how many touchdowns he threw, I don't let Tony Romo pick out my shoes for me, or Joe Namath my panty-hose (for those of us that are nearing our dotage).

There is a series on prime called Gravesend if you like characters like in sapranos you will love this series. The actors are great some were on sapranos as young guys . Well they are all grown up in this one it’s good try it out

With Val Kilmer passing on April 1st. Netflix is promoting some of his movies. One I'm watching tonight is Heat. It's got Pacino and DeNero among others. Just amazing how many great actors and actresses are in this movie.

But is also makes me sad thinking that before long, some of these people will also be gone.

Not sure what we are going to do without actors like Pacino or De Nero.

But the same with custom gun makers? What will we do when the few good makers retire?
"Not sure what we are going to do without actors like Pacino or De Nero."
The same as those who wondered the same about the actors from the 30's & 40's I guess. Every generation remembers the good old days.
