Howdy folks,

Strongly considering having some work done by John Gallagher, specifically his "Deluxe Action Tune-up" - $350 Includes removing end shake, correcting for lateral movement during cylinder lock up, installing cylinder latch bearing block, replacing base pin assembly, removing all burrs, polishing working surfaces, and adjusting trigger pull to 3 lbs.

Anyone had this done, and if so, what's your opinion of the end result? Also, can anyone enlighten me on the "cylinder latch bearing block" business?

Best,

John is the only gunsmith is use. His prices are reasonable comparatively speaking and his turn-around time is tops. He's only done single action and rifle work for me in the past but I have a SP101 in 22 lr for him to slick up now.

Actually it's worth the trip to Jasper Alabama to take your gun and meet him personally. He's one of the nicest guys around and makes you feel welcome and not an intruder in his shop.

John does great work and is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. He as done several customs for me and is working on 3 guns right now if that is any kind of recommendation. The bearing block simply takes any lateral play out of the bolt so when it locks the cylinder up in battery there is no rotational play in the cylinder.

To put it another way, I have John on speed dial on my phone if that tells you anything.

Thanks for the recommendations and the info folks, most appreciated. Looks like the liitle Ruger will be taking a trip to AL!

Best,
