70s car commercials

IDK that 70 Nova looked pretty good to me… but then my 1st car was a 70 Nova SS so I might be a little biased

Those Nova's won a lot of drag races back in the day. Grocery getters they were called, but some had some muscle.

We had a 4 door '70 Chrysler 300 that had 440 in it. Won me some country drags as a teen, until I wrecked it, or more correctly someone wrecked me. People would look at it and laugh, "you brought momma's car"? They learned.... 🤪

Agreed, those cars were ugly!

But I do actually kind of like the AMC Pacer.

You can still see Pintos from time to time. There is a green one around here I see occasionally.

But what was really funny was the OJ Simpson comparison commercial. In today’s cancel culture that would have never happened. So funny.

See the USA in your Chevrolet.

Allways a vid of an SS Camaro or Chevelle, seen on Bonanza every 15 minutes.

I had a 68 Nova. Not much difference in styling between the 68 to 72 Novas. And that 307 could be built into a beast. Ask me how I know.

Oh, and the 72 Gran Torino beat the Torinos in a heartbeat. Ask me how I know.

And the fastest of them all stock was the largest "intermediate" sized car made. the 1978 Ltd II. Sport Touring Edition. Ask me how I know.

And it's still as fast today, maybe faster, than when new.

I always liked the AMX commercial, the son had it ready for the strip & Dad hollered for Mom to see how their Son had butchered it. Remember the Toyota dragging a rocket car at the strip. I’d love to stumble onto an old Maverick to tinker with

My mother’s bright yellow ‘68 Dodge station wagon had a 440. I remember my dad driving it like he stole it when taking 40 miles of country roads to the hospital after I was bitten by a cottonmouth when I was five.

The early 70's were the heyday of muscle, in addition:

Chevrolet Chevelle S/S
Olds 442
Plymouth Barracuda
Pontiac GTO
Ford Mustang/Boss
Pontiac Firebird, pre-T/A
AMC Javelin
Ford Torino

Glory days!
Don’t forget the Buick GSX! I bought a convertible’70 GSX with 40k miles in 1980, for $1100. It had the 455 with the dual quadrajets on a ram intake and a hot cam. This was a dealer option called the Stage II package. I didn’t get mileage with that one, but gallonage!

when i listen to this....i can close my eyes and hear the engine, then i hear the radio, and look over at the passenger seat, and i can see her in it. even today.
amazing how music of the era and a V8 go together.

I'm blessed. Met my wife at 16. We've been married 52 years. I don't have to close my eyes remember. All I have to do is walk into the other room. I love to embarrass her by describing exactly how she looked the moment I first saw her. Yea, I kind of love that woman.

There were less than 700 GSX Buicks made in 1970 in only two colors and none were convertibles. The Stage II parts were never a factory option but were sold over the counter by the dealers for the customer to install. The Stage II package did not include two four barrel carburetors.

Dad had a Pontiac Ventura (Nova) for work. Had a 350 4 BBL. MY nephew had a 4 dr Nova a real beater of a car. Did some engine work on it, put slicks on the back and referred to it a Bossa Nova.

Dad ordered a 65 Malibu wagon with a high output 327 and no power steering. (what was he thinking?)
I surprised a lot of Mustangs and Camaros with it in the Red Light Nationals.
