32-20 Load Help

Does anyone have a good 32-20 load using the 115 gr Speer Gold Dot bullet? It will be used in a new Marlin 1894 rifle. I'm sure Brian Pearce has done some for Handloader but I don't have that issue.

Thanks but no load data there for a 115 gr jacketed, only lead.

Try Taffin Tests the 32-20 there is some data there hope it's what you are looking for

According to Ken Water's pet Loads, 3.7 grains of 231 is an accurate load with a 115 jacketed grain bullet.
That shouldn't be too far off the mark for the Speer Gold Dot but the 115 grain bullet is near the top of the weight scale for the 32-20.
Go to the Marlin forum and ask around there for more info.

Depends on what you want to do. My utility load is 115 grain LaserCast over 5 grains of Unique in my 1894 CL - good all-around plinking and pest round. I have also loaded it hot with 100 grain Hornady XP bullets over H110, but that load requires a scope or receiver sight because it shoots pretty high in my rifle. Went back to the 115 grain cast with Unique or PB and the buckhorn sights - perfect home & camp rifle. :)

Trying to duplicate the old "rifle" load with more punch than the current factory offerings. Mainly nothing larger than a coyote or possibly feral hog of which we have plenty! Currently using a 22 mag for that.

You might look at AA9, I use 8.3 gr with 116 cast fn for 1270 fps. Very accurate, but not jacketed like you want.

For punker and SASS loads I use Unique . For serous stuff IMR 4227 is hard to beat for high FPS and accuracy . Here is a good paste for all 3 level loading of 32-20 .
