.307 jacketed bullets in 30 carbine?

I have several hundred .307 JSP bullets that weigh 110 grains. I'm wondering if I can use them in my 30 Carbine Blackhawk...?

Are you sure they really measure .307"? Have you actually measured them? It would be very unusual to find bullets that diameter as .308 is the "universal" .30 caliber American diameter and .311 for the 7.62x39 Russian and .303 British.

There was a .307 Winchester round made for their lever action rifles but the ".307" was a marketing name, the true bullet diameter was the standard .308".

Yes, quite sure. Actually measured, with a caliper, at .307

Hi Todd, a caliper is generally considered accurate to plus or minus .001” and for something like measuring exactly what a bullet diameter is can only get you that close. Have said that, the 30 Carbine 110 grain bullets I have measured with a micrometer were .3075” and these Ruger 30 Carbine sixguns still commonly display astonishing accuracy. My personal thought is the bullets were made a bit undersized to prevent any pressure problems.

I guess I'll just get 'em loaded up and see how things shake out.

I would really like to find some hard cast flat nose bullets to load up, but I'm having trouble finding anything that meets my needs...

Everything that I'm finding with the profile I want is .312 or so. Anybody out there have a source for .308-.310 hard cast flat nose bullets in the 115gr range...?

Bullets for the 30/30 are usually .307 diameter, but I don't know of a 30/30 load with a 110 gr bullet.
