Anyone ever experimented with cutting a Blackhawk 30 carbine barrel down to say 5.5 inches?

Nope. Loud enough as is at 7 1/2".

A few cut back to 4 5/8" have been discussed on this and other forums. Owners had no complaints after cutting them.

Being a revolver you can load the cartridge in a way that suits the shorter barrel. Factory ammo is high pressure.

I use 32-30 brass in mine with 32-30 and 32 mag loads.
