I know this is pretty vague but what would be a good price to pay for a 3 screw single six in terrible condition? Wore, rust & just plain bad. A local gun shop has one for sale,

What are they asking for it? Is it 'fixable' to use as a 'shooter'?
Need a little more info serial # will help date it has it been convertied are the grips good is it a convertibile with extra cylinder in other words it could be the sum of the parts

I've purchased a couple like that over the years. Usually gave $100 for them IF the gun appeared to be "Factory Original" and not a "basket case". 
What I mean is a butt ugly gun but has its' original features and internals.

I just looked at it didn't ask any questions. It had new grips on it but it looked like the origanal grips in a bag next to it. The cyl. was pretty bad ( no blueing,pitted). Well used!! I looked at a lot of guns yesterday but I want to say they wanted $250 $300. And it did have a sign saying extra parts? Don't know if that ment origanal grips. They were busy so I didn't bother them.
At that supposed price, do not waste time or money and keep looking.........

Walk away. That price range should yield you a fairly nice one.

Yea I wasn't planing on buying it. Really I'd be embarrassed to own it.
There you have it. I have been there, especially with a '73 dodge 3/4 ton truck a Friend gave me. The good side of it was becoming a form of Legend for what it did hauling rock and me keeping the rust holes closed. We were collectively called "Patches".Back to the subject gun: Now, if it was $100, then it would be something to make people "legend you up"............ :wink: 8) Sometimes, some recognition is far better than being ignored........ :roll:

I recently had a pitted single-six cerracoated. The nice thing about the baked-on coating is that it tends to fill in the pits so the pistol doesn't need as much polishing. Ran me $100, if I recall correctly. (Picked up a few bits of work from my 'smith and just wrote a check for the combined total.)
He did a nice job and I'm quite pleased.
