3 digit BKH41

Oooops . . . three-digits . . . darn . . .

Actually it would only be 900 each since there's 99 each one or two digit guns there.

And that assumes they actually made/shipped all of them.

yep - that's right.

Now if nrobe50 is talking 3 screw guns....

I guess I need to clear up my question. I am talking about old model 4 5/8 barrel 41's and 45's with a 3 digit serial number. And yes I know all the 45's had a prefix. I have never seen a short brl 3 digit 45 but have seen and have one short brl 41.

Yes, but all the OM .45's had the same prefix (45-) so the early ones are justifiably called "three digit" guns.

The OM .41's came out before the prefix system was implemented, so their three-digit individuals "look right".

;)

I doubt you can get a definitive answer to the question. Even though the number could possibly max at 900, they made both barrel lengths, and I do not think they did them all in sequence. And unless someone has the exact notes on the first 1000 guns (by factory letters,) you may never know.
In any event, any 3 digit gun is more desirable over 4 digit guns in similar condition.

Well, I'll have to check my notes but it would seem that the 6-1/2" dominates for one-two or three-digit guns. I would think at least 70% for the 6-1/2" .41 (25% or less for 4-5/8" .41's) and probably much higher for the 7-1/2" .45.
For the .41's though I need to check my notes to go with the figure above.

I think that there are only 2-3 known 4 5/8" barrel 3-digit OM 45s...45-00111 and 45-00540 are convertible short barrel 45s. Almost all of them were 7.5" bbls.

Just my $0.02
