25.06 120g Loads ???

The load I settled on years ago is basically a case full of 4831 with a 120 gn Nosler Partition. No, I’m not saying to just fill the case, I just don’t have the load info in front of me at this time. I do know it is a compressed load and a good one!

LOL, I was gonna quip that one can likely do the same as with 130 gr .270, basically just fill 'er up with H4831, tamp it in with the bullet and go to it! :lol: ...Ya beat me to it!

(Don't actually do that though... :shock: :wink: )

This brings to mind a time, probably about 30 years ago now, I went on my first antelope hunt with a new acquaintance and his dad. Now my friends dad at that time had been reloading for close to 50 years (during the component shortages of WWII he made his own primers) and I was new to the game. I don’t recall what cartridge he was shooting, I’m thinking it was one of the Gibbs cartridges as he was into the Gibbs chamberings at that time, but I’ll never forget his response to my query about his load. His response was simply, ”it’s a case full of 4831”. Probably seeing my confused look as I digested this new to me form of powder measurement he went on saying; “hell, you can’t put too much 4831 in that case”.

He was right. :)

The fun is in experimenting... either powder will work for you. My go to powder for 115 grain nosler ballistic tips is Reloder 22.

I'm looking to switch to Ramshot powders because they are ball powders and meter much better than stick powders. I loaded some Big Game the other day and got surprising accuracy out of it. Its a ball version of 4350.

My Cooper likes 52.5 grains of RE22 pushing a Sierra 120 grain HPBT to 3008 fps. It isn't a max load according to Alliant but the 25-06 is a fussy cartridge. What is too hot in one rifle maybe fine in a different rifle....use this data with caution and always start lower and work your way up.
