I am in the market for a new 22/250 for coyotes. I am looking for suggestions. I appreciate your input.

Thanks

Looking for a Ruger or something more expensive, or something cheaper and more affordable. Buddy of mine got a Stevens model 200 (cheap) re-barreled with a SS heavy barrel, shoots great for a modest investment.

You could get a Ruger American Predator and some good glass for that price and still have money eft for ammo maybe.

I'm saving my pennies for a No1 1V in 22-250 I found. Scoped w/100 ends of ammo $700. It's a black pad and the wood is a little plain but counting the extras it's only about $500 for the gun.

For that amount you could pick up a Savage 12BVSS, just have to shop around a little. I have one just like it. Will be VERY accurate out of the box and has a nice trigger............ Here is one.

A guy I used to know (now deceased) had an old 03A3 Springfield re heavy barreled to 22-250. I didn't pay much attention to the scope on it except it was a biggun.
He came by my house one day. As we were standing talking in the driveway a 1/4 of a mile away a coyote was trotting down a fence line (I know it was a 1/4 because we were on one side of a square 40 acre plot and the coyote was at the other). He grabbed the 22-250 from his back seat, threw it up to his shoulder and BANG the coyote just folded up - dead.
It was a memorable shot that happened about 40 years ago I still remember it to this day. Ever since I've been impressed with the 22-250 and still wish I owned one.

I like the 22-250 and have a Model 7 Predator which is deathly accurate, how ever it uses the 1 in 14 twist and will not stabilize a 55 grain poly tipped bullet if that is an issue for you choose a rifle with a faster twist.

The Ruger American, blue or All-Weather or Predator, and a good scope will easily fit that budget. My American in .223 shoots sub 1" groups at 100 yards using by not-agonized-over handloads. I originally bought the American because it's one of the very few left-handed bolt actions available and I'm very pleased with how it's worked out.

Another worth looking at is the CZ 550. CZ centerfire bolt guns (527 &550) all have an excellen, adjustable single set trigger. Great accuracy & reasonable cost. The American series will be the best bang for your buck, though.

my old boss had a Mexican 7x57 mauser built into a medium heavy barrel 22-250 with thumbhole stock.
He had a Burris AO 4-12 scope on it. The first time I ever saw him shoot anything with it, he vaporized a crow at a solid 500yds in a big cottonwood tree, four other crows in the tree just sat there like "Hey what happened to Joe? He was sitting here a second ago"
He liked deer hunting with it and handloaded homemade 65gr copper wire solids he made himself with pieces of solid copper ground rod. That rifle was so accurate, every deer I saw him shoot with it only had one tiny hole right behind their ear.

Our local Big R farm & ranch supplyin Alamosa had accutrigger equipped Savage scope kit rifles in 22-250 and .223 for $499 back at Christmas

For Christmas, 2003, I got a Ruger MKIIVT in .22-250. Two-stage trigger, heavy, floated barrel. Four-shot, .5" group at 200 yards with 40g BT handloads @ 4100fps. Wouldn't hesitate for a second to get another.

On the other hand, it replaced a Savage 110E .22-250 that would shoot five-shot groups at 100 that you could cover with a dime. Dad gave it to me with untold rounds through it and 2000 fired cases. (He also had a Browing BLR in .,22-250.) I put several thousand more rounds through it before the barrel went. Wouldn't hesitate to get a new Savage, either.

Most of my varmint hunting is under 200 yards. Almost all of it is done stalking, so I prefer sporter weight rifles. For me, weight can be an issue depending how much you are going to be carrying the rifle. My favorite is a Ruger Hawkeye all weather ultralight in 204 Ruger. With handloads, it is really accurate. I have a Tikka T3 stainless in 22-250 that is a very sweet rifle and also is very accurate. These guns get shot the most. I also have a Tikka T3 stainless varmint and Savage 116 stainless in 22-250. They are a little heavier and do not see quite as much use. I just got a Ruger American stainless compact in 223, but I believe they are available in 22-250. I hope to work up a load for it soon.

Surf some of the guns-only online auction websites, like gunbroker, gunsamerica, gunauction, gunsinternational, etc, etc.

A few weeks ago, I was able to find a .22-250 T/C TCR-83 single-shot rifle in primo condition that had a BIN of $800 - which I took, of course.

I haven't wanted to take it outside in the snow for some pics, but it's exactly like this one:
