i have a 72 super blackhawk with the bianche holster, has had less than 20 rounds through it,has jeweled hammer and trigger and i was wondering what is worth. The bluing is perfect other than one little rub mark at the end of the barrel (from the holster)

First, you're better off selling the holster separately. Selling it along with the pistol pretty much means tossing it in for free.

The jeweled hammer and trigger add zero to the value.... in fact, to a Ruger collector, actually reduce the value, since that ain't the way it came from the factory.

Is there a turn line on the cylinder? A 3-screw should NOT have a turn line. Other than that, if it has muzzle wear from the holster, it almost certainly has bluing loss on the front edge of the cylinder as well, and likely a bit of wear where the barrel joins the frame.

The big question, though..... has it been converted, and if it has, do you have the original lockwork?

Long story short.... if it's not converted, it's $400 tops... $300 to $350 is more likely. But that's without looking at it.

If it's converted and you don't have the parts, knock off $100 to $150.

no wear on cylinder no turn line or any other wear marks grips are perfect, other than what i posted it is prefect and is has not been changed up.The hammer and trigger were done for obvoius reasons it looks better.

The jeweled hammer and trigger do not look better to the collector and it's only the collector who would pay top price, but only for originality. So the best you can hope for is a shooter price.

The gun appears to be unconverted. It still has the orginal hammer. And I agree with the others, the jeweled hammer and trigger is a turnoff to a collector. It is also a newer OM so the collector attraction is less. My guess is $400 with box and papers. And I would shoot it.

Yes looks like the original hammer, however it appears to have the spur rounded. So it can't even be returned to original by removing the jeweling and those hammers are HARD to find and not cheap if one is found.

I concur with the above posts. The gun needs a $100 hammer and a $40 or more trigger before a collector would purchase it as a "collectible" OM Super.

In addition, the grips don't appear to be correct and the "proper" pair are worth $50-$60 or more.

The Holster is GREAT!

It's appeal, in my humble opinion, lies in the fact it's still a very well made Old Model Super Blackhawk and probably shoots quite well!

OK Guys,
I agree with the collect-ability part. Just for the record 80 Pre-fix Supers are not to collectible  Well a NEW Super goes for $500-550.
Now we have a 20 round Super that is still better than a NEW Model.
The Jeweling on the hammer and trigger will come off with a little work, just as rust will. Yea a set of grips go for $35-50 and these will sell for $35
So IMHO the gun is worth $500-550 and the holster $75+
Which would you rather have This one or a Dull Clunky New Model

Since the parts are worth that I would buy all I could for that

Nice looking Super and a good year (let's just say I have a big birthday this Nov). I'd say $450 since it's unconverted and clean.....especially if it has only been fired 20 times in forty years. You're hard pressed to find like new NM's for under $400.

I'm with Jim & Lee, tough enough to find a clean old model, and this one would "clean up" quite nicely and MOST of the 44 guys already have spare pairs of grips in their 'stash' so sell these new model ones for the $35-40 they are worth, and you have a really NICER OM Super....check the prices of what some of those Bianchi flap holsters have been selling for and you got another EASY $75 to $100...............I've bought 'worse' for $350-400

Lee,
I agree with you 100%
But How on earth can this be. We have one of the Best center fire Rugers that was ever built and it is 40 years old and it is only worth $50 more than a new one that is CRAP IMHO. Why do we bother collecting this stuff???
Look what a Colt SAA of the same year goes for and it was about the same price as the Super when new. Something isn't right
