I have to confess...I'm surprised this isn't a standard Ruger offering?
'Sold my 4 & 5/8 convertible years ago...now I'm thinking this is one that I'll regret selling.
I can't believe that the Security Six isn't included...one of the most prolific wheel-guns ever produced. Personally I'd bump the Super Redhawk from the list in favor of the 'Six.
Just my $ .02. I've never owned a Redhawk, they certainly have a great reputation and a strong following.
Yup, $395. is a great price for a stainless example. I lucked into a blued version six months ago for $320. It's a minty 6" one with original grips.
Despite the fact that the "six" series guns were made in large numbers, they just don't seem to turn up for sale that much. At least not in my...
I don't like a lot of bling myself, but wouldn't go so far as to call it ugly. When you consider the elk grips & tooling hours that must have gone into that pistol, the price is actually pretty reasonable if that's your thing.
I just bought a gun in the exact configuration you've described, for $320. + tax & fees. Total cost was $344. The gun is in 98% condition.
I think I got it cheap, I think it's more like a $375 - $400. gun.
As others have said, you need to to volunteer a bit more info to assess a value. I...
Thanks all, for the detailed info and for the pictures. I'd not really stopped thinking about the 6" blued Security Six that I passed on a week and a half ago. I returned to the shop this afternoon for another look & couldn't put the gun down. I ended up paying $344.50 out the door.
The gun...
Did these come in both a "heavy" contour barrel and a "light" contour version?
I came across a 6" blued example yesterday priced at $320. The gun was in excellent condition with what would appear to be the original wood target grips. It was a 154 prefix gun.
I think the price is excellent &...
I had one that would consistently hit a 8" paper plate off of a sandbag @ 100 yards from a rest.
As someone else mentioned, it is a loud gun. I always wore double hearing protection when firing it.
Too bad that .30 carbine ammo costs triple what it did just a few years ago...
