Any love for M77/22's with open sights here?

My 1984 77/22 wears open sights and I love the looks and the fact that they're there. However, over the years, (decades) I've found that my eyes have gotten to detest most factory supplied open sights. With that to deal with, some of my rifles wear aftermarket receiver sights but, most have...

    Ruger # 1

That's a bit disturbing to hear.

    2014 #1

I've not had any problem with finding components for the 74R. Thing is, I already have a boatload of brass and dies for the 74R so I'm all set there; the 62 would mean buying both new dies and brass... Humm, I still might, who knows?

    2014 #1

The only new one that catches my eye is the 1-S in 9.3x62. At one time I thought that this would be a great #1 to own if they made one, however, having one in 9.3x74R makes me wonder if I should bother going there as they're just so darn similar, almost ridiculously so. Decisions, decisions.

    .300 Blackout for 2014?

    My sentiments exactly.

    M77 Bolt not closing

It'd be interesting to see if a "go" gauge would work properly or not. At any rate a call to Ruger is probably in the near future, if in fact using brass cased ammo works no better. BTW: I don't wish to offend anyone and maybe it's just me; I can see using relatively inexpensive steel cased...

    Ruger M77 in 416 Taylor

Great find! Beautiful rifle and in a fairly unusual but great DG caliber. I'm jealous!

    Very cool 1-B story

Nice find and be ready to make space in the safe for more #1s. +1 on the book, you'll enjoy it.

    M77 Bolt not closing

Strange but I must first ask: Are you (1) trying to load a round out of the magazine or are you (2) simply sliding a round directly into the chamber and then trying to close the bolt on the round? If you are using method (2), forget it and try method (1).

    Ruger 77 Barrel twist ?

    Yup, looks like 1-10". http://www.deltagunshop.com/clearwater_reboring/factory_twist_rates.html

Is Ruger going to make any of the "2013" No. 1's?

Just saw a 1A .222 in my LGS last weekend for $1150, but it's the only 2013 #1 I've seen around here.

    1B 22 Hornet

Definitely the result of a pissing contest. The "above average" wood? Yes, it might be considered that compared to what is available all to often these days but IMO, fairly average wood for a redpad back in the day.

    77/357 RSI International Poll

Not I. The combination of a primarily centerfire handgun round in a rifle has never tripped my trigger. I certainly appreciate the antique versions but that's as far as my interest goes.

    xxx stocks

Just because something is a tool, doesn't mean it has to be ugly or plain Jane looking. I don't mind the idea of paying more for better wood on some of my tools. I've done it before and would do it again.

    No.1 RSI vs. 1A

We have something in common then! I not only love the Ruger number ones but like you have this nice #1S in 9.3x74R wearing a Leupold VX-II 2-7x33. It does have company though, in the form of the RSI model you also like and are looking for but, unlike in the 7x57 you want, it's in .30-06. It's...
