No fault of the OP, Contender, this article is pretty much click bait or misconceiving,,,, it happens all the time. We are all subjected to it.
But I looked at the Zeiss sporting product line & thought wait a minute,,, 70 employees can't make all that. Then thought about a model or 2 thatZeiss rebrands other makers wares & read a bit more. Seems a lot of Zeiss models are made outside the Zeiss facilities in Germany,, with Japanese manufacturers being responsible for many.
Now the closure of one dept. maybe made a particular special model or was the 70 employee facility simply a marketing, service or other department remains unclear,,, but for all practical purposes, or more info is present,, The Zeiss sporting line doesn't appear to be going away.
They may be made by Meopta in the Czech Republic or mostly Japan, LOW optics there a big choice for quality Jap optics. But again, no indication of Zeiss sport optics going away at this time.
