You're never good enough for the next time

I'd like to see how Timothy caries all those magazines.

Here's the blow up: Wilson Combat pouch/bag.

Yes, I saw that. I wonder how all that fits in with the rest of his régulation belt load. ;)

He probably leaves the bag in the car when he stops at Krispy Kreme. ;)

That said, I have 4*26rnd and 4*13rnd mags for my G-21 and LC. That's 156 rnds total, with both weapons loaded, so it's not all on the web gear. It's possible to carry all of that, including the pistol and rifle, but it's heavy and requires the old WWII web gear belt & suspender rig for the spare mags and pistol. If I've got it all strapped on I can't get in or out of my car. I tried it once.

If he's toting a dozen or so magazines to deal with a running gun battle like the one described, I'd think remembering to drag that bag along might just slip his mind or prove somewhat burdensome. Not criticizing him, just wondering about the practicality of the outfit.

I agree. There's always compromises that have to be made. The gate guards at the local AFB normally have a Sig on their hip and wear a plate carrier vest that holds 6 or 8 mags, plus radio, etc. That's for normal FPCon Bravo. They'll also have an M-4 and mags if FPCon goes up.

OK, referring to the pic in post #3, I can see how if Timothy wore that bag across his chest and the vest I presume he'd be wearing under it he could get along. Whether it would be comfortable and allow easy driving of his cruiser I'm not sure. It's quite possible he would see the potential quick access to all that ammo as more important than comfort and maneuverability, and I'd understand. Since I'll almost certainly never be in a situation were all that would be necessary it's really none of my business. His neck, his call. I'll butt out. :)

I'm not a cop. I have an advantage he didn't have. I could have and probably would have just kept driving never having a clue the bad guy was driving right past me. I can WAIT for a tactical advantage to show my cards.

It isn't my job to save the world, just to save my family and ME.

Lots of cops carry more ammo, mags in the unit. Beside the seat is a place, maybe in a bug out bag on the passenger seat. I kept a lot of ammo in the trunk. I carried more ammo on body in winter in a jacket than summer. The biggest problem is of course he didn't carry that load on his belt or even attached to him. If you need more then on your body, you may not ever be able to get to the extra ammo in the unit. Smart or not, I had my extra ammo in a GI 30 cal ammo can, in the trunk. Loaded 9mm or 40 cal mags and a bandolier of 12ga slugs and 00 buck. Really figured it would be used to resupply others and it was once.

I guess I'm a wimp and ill prepaired,... I'll stick with 8 in the gun and another 7 at my side....
(keeping in mind that 95% or so of the people out there, excluding you guys, would think that is nuts)
That's me. If it takes more than two mags I don't need to be shooting at it.
Occasionally I might have another box in the truck, but not often.

speaking of ammo in the trunk, reminds me of a story an older black lady told me a few years ago. She still lived in the small community out in rural S.C. and back in the 60's there was some racial troubles it seems... one day this load of young white men drove up and shot guns in the air and said they were coming back that night to show them what for....So her father called the sheriff, who came out and met with the several families and listened to what had happened and that they were scared of what would happen that night... true to form, because of the politics back then, the sheriff said he could not help them with protection that night with deputies or such but he did have an alternative... he went over to his car opened the trunk and started handing out guns and ammo. That night when the rowdies showed up a few warning shots was all it took to send them back down to town.

have to tell a funny story... or what I came up with on Friday.... my churche's safety team was doing training and one guy was showing the extended magazine for his Sig P265 and complaining of how it stuck out too far and I showed him that what you were supposed to do when you had an extended magazine in the pistol was shoot 'geto' style holding the pistol sideways so that it was easier for the others in the hood to see you had a big mag.

You might set him down in front of a PC and have him watch this training video. ;)

Funny but true. Last week I aped a gangster walk and gangster just hanging around to my GF who never lived or spent time in a metro city. She asked why the crotch grab and shake. Me, I don't know but they all do it.

If the ammo isn't already in mags it is pretty much useless. If I'm wearing a shoulder rig I tend to carry a pair of 30's on the offside to balance out the gun though.
